Vico è bellissima Nunzia... grazie mille per il tuo messaggio , felicissimo di sapere che è piaciuto il video. Ho bellissimi ricordi di quella giornata d'estate a Vico..
Interesting town. Quite different from the other Puglian towns that you have posted. Not touristy. The old town is fascinating, it truly is like going back in time. The narrow alleys are indeed very narrow. And those stairs down (via Casela), very steep. Friendly kitty in via Fuoriporta. Wonder why the very narrow via del bacio got its name. Thanks for another interesting walk, Riccardo 👍🙂
Hi Geraldine! Indeed... very very different and with a peculiar history as well I must say. It wasn't very easy walking with that hot weather and climbing and descending for sure) But truly adored Vico.. there's something magic in its roughness. Via del Bacio... didn't find much about it... the Alley of Kiss... perhaps for its narrowess I reckon. Glad you enjoyed also this tour, I loved it there ...
@@StillWanderer yeah, I thought there was some mystic feeling in this town. And to me the Church of Purgatory was kind of "asiatic" maybe because of all the red colours
Agreed Geraldine! If you see well you see a curator there...he was so nice to wait for me to finish before closing it...we talked a bit..told me a bit about the town. Loved it...maybe these videos aren't much appreciated instead of Capri and such... but I like the "underdogs towns" as we say!)
Gargano is so unique and quite. I find it plausible . To live in a house with no neighbours near by and silent alleys as some areas are there will be a wonderful experience I imagine . The lady who is sitting alone and turned away from camera is lovely . Aged residents confined in their own are adorable .Wonderful tour somewhat Philosophical 😊😊😊.Best wishes . Old Trappeto is wonderful indeed .
Dear Rajyashree, what a pleasure reading from you again. Indeed... philosophical is the word as I agree too. Another friend said it's also "archaic"and I agree as well. It's a town quite different... loved it for its rough beauty though. There was a sense of "time-less" history there which I found rarely in other towns. I'll upload a new video of a Trappeto only in the future
Riccardo you are just a true artist that intro was wonderful. No matter how long you have visited Italy there is something new/old that can be found and enjoyed. Thanks again for bringing Vico del Gargano to all of us here from the states.
Dear Lawsonartzy, what a pleasure reading from you again. And thank you , as always, truly. I love actually editing the drone films , I tried in the past to created ad-hoc ones as you saw too, but then discontinued for the time being. But it's still one of my true passions. I was maybe thinking of creating a single video with only "intros" of the towns and writing under the name of each... Maybe could be a good idea?
Hi Jitendra and nice to see you again! Glad you like it, yup, I'll upload a Cinque Terre video every week for almost 2 months from now on )) Lots of videos I took, every friday one. On Tuesday other towns
Glad you enjoyed also Vico Dear Sudip. Truly a magnificent place... and the inside of the "trappeto" was something interestnig (I have another video of another trappeto only soon). Liked the town muself very much! Last film of a Puglia town unfortunately for this year I guess... but moving around me in the near future (Abruzzo.. Marche and Liguria)
This old town does seem to have its own unique character. Certainly very different from your previous video. Nice that the owner of the "Trappeto" allowed you access to film the interior. It's amazing! Interesting building at 4:51, is it a private residence? Really got a jump scare with the big dog. Wasn't expecting its sudden appearance. Refreshing that you show so many different towns in Italy, and not just the popular and tourist attractions.
Dear Lang, glad to read from you my friend, and thank you as always for your kind words and comments. Indeed, such a different "Puglia" town compared to the other ones, but surely very charming I found. That dog was scary and cute at the same time (after my lunch pause he came to check my filming equipment)): I always thought these other mostly less-famous towns couldn't be interesting to people on RU-vid.. I'm glad infact they can be liked and appreciated also to be honest. They deserve a place too I think
@@StillWanderer It even looked as if the dog realised that he had intruded on your filming and kind of excused himself by going back inside. I really do like getting to know more about these unknown towns thanks to you.😊
This town has a character of its own, very nice. The old town only needs some painting, maybe they like it that way. It was interesting when you gave us a glimpse of the new town, beautiful. It's my understanding the law in Italy wants restaurants to have one day off and many chose to close on Sundays or Mondays. That's why I think the streets are empty and the "Trappeto" was also not serving. The Churches are beautiful, Italy has the most stunning churches. Thanks for the video.
Indeed Esther, a very peculiar town for sure... loved it in its own unique way. It was a very hot Sunday , but I suspect people were off to the sea that day.. I spoke to the owner of that restaurant and he told me that during dinner the town is usually very alive and he's always full with clients! I'll also show inside another "trappeto" in another video, only a small tour inside an authentic one (10 minutes or so!)
@@StillWanderer Riccardo, I noticed you don't show beaches in your videos a lot. Most of the other walking tours start filming from the beach then they move into the towns to avoid that perception of empty streets. People also like to see the beaches. Just a suggestion.
Good suggestion Esther... Indeed I do often the opposite... tomorrow there will be a video in Vernazza but I was almost always there. I hope it'll be a good mix of beach and town. Let me know if it's a good solution!
@@StillWanderer Thanks, Riccardo, for getting back to me, I look forward to seeing your video on Vernazza. That's a controversial town in the Cinque Terre. Tourists have been complaining that the town is not kept properly, not painted and felt that Tourists are deceived about how beautiful it is. By the way I'm catching up with some of your tours and I started " Nepi" in center of Italy. It's looking very good and will comment when done.
Indeed Esther, cinque Terre are Indeed beautiful but...but...I felt that there's a lot of "fame" behind the name. liked them of course but they're maybe a bit too "posh" at least for my taste! Ahhh Nepi... As you can see I filmed a lot in that area...I adore it immensely
Glad you enjoyed it Dana... I will upload in the future a full Trappeto video (10 minutes or so) inside a museum of the Trappetos... I hope you'll enjoy this
@@Itgirl217 thank you Kristina, it's been 2 years already with this channel ..it started to show only unknown or unusual towns ..with time though also famous one. I'll post a little more about Puglia in the future (a beach and a "trappeto"...) Wish you a nice weekend!
At 4:47 you show a tower-like structure with a balcony on the side. Does this indicate that someone actually lives there? Loved to see the doting grandpa at 55:50. You knew, when you walked pass that cutout at 57:50, that we'd want to see what it was. Sure enough, you turned around and showed it to us. Classy move Riccardo. 1:06:35 WOW! 1:09:40, I'm glad he wasn't in a guarding mode. 1:18:42 you just had to see where those stairs led, didn't you. This town is fascinating, Ric. Thanks for the walk.
Sharon! I suspect they live in there... as I saw a full window and it really looks like a home.. a peculiar one for sure, but... Ohh... those details and thos memories... I remember that big black dog... when I paused for lunch, and was eating in that restaurant where I met that owner, after it, near that large "largo", I was preparing the drone to fly .. he came to me rather peacefully yet ... being this large, I was a little discomforting. But he just... sat down there in the little square, and touching my leg while I was there and stayed there relaxing. After a bit he went away) One of those strange meetings in these place... I also found the town incredibly fascinating Dear Sharon, very different... very peculiar... but a great atmosphere was always there
I'm happy because I feel like I'm traveling to an antique and beautiful city with a good friend!👏 I lost track of time and watched it well.👍 Have a great day!🤗
Why oh Why thank you so much as always! Nice to see you again and glad you enjoyed also this walk. Last film I was able to make in Puglia unfortunately... but other from other regions will come from this year.
One of the most archaic-looking borghi you presented to date, with those irregular facades and preserved patina. Also, interesting that was founded by Slavs.
Dear Andrei, happy to see you again! Indeed, the history of the Slavs mercenaries in the Gargano area is rather deep and not well known outside of Italy. I liked the town very much too, very charming in its own archaic way as you said.
Oh it's a very cosy and nice place indeed Vico. Not so touristic as other towns perhaps, but very charming and close to the sea. Glad to see messages like this from ancestors of people coming from Italy
@@StillWanderer Yes, I love the look of the restaurant. I saw the village was ranked one of the most beautiful villages in Italy by a non-profit association. Do you know when this village was established? I'm guessing it's nearly 1000 years old. Unlike the United States, the Italians surely build things that last over the course of just one lifetime.
This is the best way to travel right now, with no Covid tests required, no vaccine certificate, no quarantine. Bring a glass of wine and sit in your favorite first class chair. And dream.
Indeed Ken, I just hope there won't be a new wave of closures even here :/ Still a lot to see in Setptember before the weather will become worse. Loved Vico very much anyway... very rough and real
