I used to pride myself in being a great pipefitter. Fitting everything from 3/4” screw pipe to 96” sch. 160 pipe. From carbon steel to NASA graded exotic metals. But I never touched Victaulic pipe… the first time I did it humbled me 😂😂

Hi Muhammad, Thanks for reaching out. The lubricant is for installation purposes, not for sealing purposes. The lubricant helps the gasket/coupling fit into place and helps to avoid pinching of the gasket during installation. The compressive force created by the two coupling housings during installation seals the joint.

Hi, I have question Can we use this one to connect 2 pipe that has the same inner diameter but different outer diameter ? In my case, inner diameter DN150, but outer diameter is D160 and D166

Thanks for reaching out, The Style 31 is designed to join AWWA sized pipes that match in outside diameters. The Style 31 is not designed to transition between two different outside pipe diameters. If there is a leak coming from the coupling, would it be because there is a tear in the gasket, or if it slid out of position?

This design is dumb becuz the gasket oxidise over the time and it leaks...

Is there a recommended torque tightness to the nuts? Can you use a m12 milwaukee stubby impact for tightening? It has 250 ft-pounds of torque

Hi Dave, thanks for reaching out. Installation of the Victaulic Style 31 coupling should be performed according to the directions contained within the Victaulic I-300 Field Installation Handbook for AWWA Products (www.victaulic.com/assets/uploads/literature/I-300.pdf). There is no bolt torque requirement for proper installation of the Style 31 coupling. Instead, it is necessary to achieve metal-to-metal contact at the housing bolt pads. An impact wrench may be used for the installation of the coupling’s hardware and should be used in accordance with the guidelines published on page 64 of our I-100 Field Installation Handbook (www.victaulic.com/assets/uploads/literature/I-100.pdf).

are the pipes supposed to be shaky or loose fitting?

The Style 31 can provide either a flexible or rigid joint depending on how the groove on the pipe is prepared. Please reference the I-300 Field Installation Handbook (Page 11 and 12) for the specific groove dimensions for either application. Hola Eynar. El lubricante en el video se llama “Vic-Lube” y esta formulado para que sea compatible con todas nuestras empaquetaduras. El lubricante no está basado en petróleo, y se disuelve cuando está en contacto con el agua. Cualquier lubricante utilizado para la instalación tiene que ser compatible con la empaquetadura del acople. Avísenos si tiene alguna duda. Gracias.
