The fact that he has 10+ minutes of highlights in 32 games is absolutely crazy. Especially when he isn't currently getting touches on every trip down the floor yet.
@D1ProdSoloz that's fair! I wasn't even taking out the games he didn't play so thats even more crazy. Every time he touches the ball there's a chance of a highlight!
Exactly!! I feel like this is a completely underrated stat/ aspect of someone's game. Any tall shmuck can block a ball into the stands. But a dude that can save two points AND force a turnover in the same swipe is much better.
@@justinrobertson7023offensively sure, but defensively Wemby is miles ahead. Love Porzingis but he’s never been a great defender and he can be pretty unreliable at times.
He's the complete package and his stats with few minutes are already quite incredible. He's sometimes doing "too much" but once the "new kid of the NBA" attention will be finished and Spurs will recruit quality players to help him, he will truly develop his style and control his game.
I mean... does he even need one? I'm kinda digging him putting everyone in the basket, lol. Seeing that one dunk on AD was filthy--he looked down at the guy like he was his little brother.😂
The only thing that scares me with this guy is potential health problems. I really worry about his knees, every NBA fan should go to sleep at night praying for his health, bc this guy is a true unicorn.
The 19-year-old point-forward plays like no one else in the world with his staggering size (7-foot-4) and frame (nearly 8-foot wingspan). To see him take players off the dribble and step into 3-pointers from Stephen Curry range defies everything you would ever expect from a young player with his size. 1:00 [Yahoo! Sports]
Touted as the best young prospect since LeBron James, Victor Wembanyama has caught the attention of the entire basketball world for his sheer talent, work ethic, and humble personality. 1:57 [Fadeaway World]
VW is a franchise player. Incredible to see a big with handles and such agility, Boy also can shoot and pass. He also just as good on defensive end with blocks, rebounds, and steals. VW is hall of famer in the making.
The big fella is just so entertaining, so fun and exciting to watch him play the game. I hope both he and us the fans are lucky enough for a long exciting fun-filled healthy career.
I moved to Alaska several years ago, and havent watched much sports since then… but this kid makes me want to watch basketball again. What an athlete!!
I love he is getting more confident. Not afraid to go in and get through contact. It is refreshing to see good big man basketball again in the NBA, different from the 3 point shootout it is today.
See, this guy is great. Hes a generational talent. Hes constantly improving. Its hist first year in the big leagues, and hes slamming dunks on the veteran centers, blocking their shots, can dribble the ball when needed, blocking 3s from people who are KNOWN to knock em down, AND to top it off, hes always stretching before the game with albeit weird motions, but improving his general muscle density and elasticity to avoid easy injuries. If he can manage that, find a health balance of weight to muscle ratio, hes gonna probably be in the top 10 C/PF talks. But at the same time, we gotta acknowledge that his team isnt focusing directly on him. And I think it might be due to fatigue issues. They dont want the young star they have to get tired doing extra flashy moves or alleys too often, but like Ive been seeing in games, and in the comments, theyre constantly missing him on wide open attempts in the paint. Sochan is a decent PG, but he has a better chemistry with their other players at the PG spot. If they can improve on that, this team is a few pieces away from championship.
This is def. a new thing we're seeing, and it's welcomed. It reminds me of when Shaq came into the league. This big, heavy dude comes in and dunks ferociously on people the entire game, and it was just a different thing to watch back then.
when he hangs and swings from the rim on a fast break at full speed it really shows how strong and put together he is. full athletic ability just like anyone else in the league
@@realharrykane2063 There's no point the team being 1-dimensional. Teams will adapt to Wemby being the main option and then the rest of the team will be failing outside that main play. I think it's far better to develop the rest of the team while Wemby is finding his feet rather than put all our chips on Wemby. Give it time. He needs to build some strength over the next 12 months and he'll be a powerhouse.
I don't see him as injury prone, so he should be good. He's not carrying a large load and putting heavy stress on his knees. Also, he's quite flexible like when he turned his ankle and bounced right back up as if nothing happened.
I just enjoy watching him, he surprises me. I love it when he hands from the basketball rim and swings a little, then lets go. So freakin neat, this 56 year old lady loves him in the HEB store commercials, such a cutie....🥰🥰🥰
I swear to God if Kareem teaches Victor how to do sky hook shots and perfect it, he would be LITTERALLY unstoppable. Every sky hook shot would be like an uncontested free throw.
@@alxholicdude will never fill out like the freak. There’s something wrong with his body to grow like that. I’m willing to bet he’s actually got a viewership loss on the team because it’s hard to watch. It makes me sick to my stomach watching him play. It disturbs me and he isn’t going to last long term with a frame like that…
Victor is indeed a unicorn, a generational talent and should he keep going the way he is, it will be a player to fear. People was throwing hate at him after a few summer league games ... but what about now? Have you seen the learning curve he's put on, the level he displays after 32 games (and still what is to come)? People keep saying "he should put on muscles like Giannis ..." - Come on dude, what's this obsession? He's already shown he doesn't need all that, he's pretty mobile considering his size and that is in my opinion due to the fact he's not overloading his already huge body with tons of muscles, let him be Wembanyama and not a Giannis ripoff. People saying Chet is better, and proves it with OKC ... No disrespect to Chet, but he's got a team that help him shine, Wemby doesn't unfortunately, and he can't carry it alone, however, do you see what he's already doing after 32 games? People hating on Wemby after 2-3 ankle "soreness" ... man he's 19, already playing at the highest of levels and having back to back games; what would you expect? He's huge, and giving it his all during every match ... let him be, let him grow, let him experience the ups and downs, its all part of the learning process. In conclusion: like it or not, for whatever reason, Wemby IS a one of a kind player, lots of talent, lots of skills, just needs time to adjust, mature and have the experience to reach his full potential; should you ask me, he looks scary enough already, imagine that in 2-3 years when he knows the plays, the fakes, the players playstyle ... it's gonna be madness.
@alexandreboulnois4605 Dude, we're not even midway through the season yet. Just wait until playoff and the intensity of that type of gameplay and defense is going to be much harder on him.
Giannis was pretty skinny too, when he first joined the league. Wemby is only 19, and he will bulk up some as he matures. Hell, he could still have some growth left, too. He will need to get stronger to deal with the physicality and longer season, and I'm sure that he and the Spurs have the best trainers available to make sure he adds muscles in the best way possible. Barring injury, he will only get better.
can you do a compilation of his full and half court lobs? it’s like he’s throwing a magnet on a fridge when he passes from across the court straight into his teammates’ hands
I just want to say how much I appreciate Trey Jones. I know the Spurs are young and figuring things out but at least Trey has already figured out what everyone else on the team will accept eventually.
I remember the first time seeing Wemby get that steal with that insane reach against the Thunder and literally said "What the hell???" 😂 Like imagine playing against that. You're in the paint, but Wemby tips the ball from you at damn near the three point line.
You won’t have to worry about it honestly, he’ll never make it long term with that frame. His joints and muscles won’t hold up. I can’t even watch him because I know it’s coming sooner than later.
It certainly does bring back memories of "Ralph Samson". The game was different back then in the early 1980's. This young man no doubt has even more dexterity. Let's hope his career lasts longer than Ralph's did. We have seen this all before though. The bigger they are, the easier it is too get hurt and never return.
I go way back too. I see elements of Ralph Sampson too. But Ralph was stronger, had more bulk on his body. With all the bruisers from back in the 80s/90s...I see Wemby gettting pushed around a lot.
@@dlxinfinite7098if you really watch his match-ups, especially the bucks game where he and giannis went head to head, and even against Lopez, they didn't move him much. He's stronger than he appears
I remember when Jordan came in the league and they said he wouldn't be able to do this and that. He proved everyone wrong. Well history gonna rewrite itself again. Just cause you never seen it, don't mean it cant be done. VW gonna have 8-10 Championships, 10 if he shops his self to other teams like some players do to get a ring. You are looking at the future league all time shot blocker, all time rebound leader, all time dunk boss, most career points, and maybe just maybe the Leagues most MVP's if he stays healthy. Some folks don't even realize what they are witnessing right in front of there eyes. He's only 19 frail, naive, slow. So wait 2 more years he will be so dominate at this game we all love.
@@g3arma5ter everyone except wemby ofc. I swear to god nobody wants to pass him the ball even tho hes the best player on the team without any question or second thought. Pop has to step it up and make his players feed wemby
bro it feels like everytime he touches the ball inside the three point line, he's dunking it, if he gets into a rhythm from three one game and his teammates start forcing it to him, he has a chance @@abscinding
