Sharing the genius, the Francois Rabbath, of bass guitar.
The overall takeaway of his technique is that it is an amalgamation of most every technique. This allows for a breathtaking access to every style and sound. Used with an "economy of motion", this method of playing will open more musical doors than you can imagine.

My bass teacher met him once, and in the middle of their conversation, he did a backflip.

The (amazing) tapping from 5:13 - 6:07 reminds me of Angelo Badalamenti and Unsolved Mysteries.

forgive me for being a bit of a beginner, but when he's talking about which parts of the chord he is playing, what do the numbers mean?
@hampusisaksson1999
@hampusisaksson1999 9 лет назад
It's the order of the notes in a scale. He plays G Major as an example in the beginning of the video where G is number 1, A is number 2, B is number 3 and so on. (The notes in G Major, in order, are: G, A, B, C, D, E, F#, G.) So, the numbers basically represents the notes's place in the scale.
@tomvanlieshout524
@tomvanlieshout524 9 лет назад
Hampus Isaksson Could also be the root notes of the chords from the G Major scale. That would be, 1 to 7: G, A minor, B minor, C, D, E minor, F# diminished. EDIT: in this case he does simply refer to the notes from the G major scale.

I wonder if he is proficient in other instruments as well... I always thought as a bassist it's a good idea to learn some other instruments on a basic level to better understand music as a whole.
@g0ltes

+Sauly Betesh I think that applies to every musician. I am primarily a drummer, and I learned to play bass and guitar just for fun, but it also helped me to better understand the other band members. Now it just flows better when we jam.

He can fool around on guitar, piano and drums. I don't remember though in what interview he said it (Beato or Devine, probably).
