Hi guys, this is the Hungary player. I see that some people are asking why did Germany not release Venice? The reason is that Venice gets annex immediately by an Italian Minor. I don’t know if the game checks if a player is on it, I did not risk it. I also trust in my ability to double the GDP, which i did. I also want to thank Tarkusarkiar for hosting. You were excellent. (Not a wish knock off)
Very exciting to see people using violate sovereignty! Thank you for hosting for the weekend! I forget what it was now at the end of the vid, but there was something early in the video re something you thought should be against the rules because it was gamey and I generally have mixed feelings about these kinds of things, but kind of default to a more anarchy philosophy - partially because I think it lends to interesting game play patterns and out of the box thinking, but also because I don't want to be the arbiter of what's "too gamey" or not because I don't want to add a layer of subjectivity to the thing if I can avoid it (which, to some extent, I can't). I also think that players enter with an expectation of exploity play, and that that's probably better than players entering with the expectation of a tight semi-RP ruleset, but then people find ways to break it and it causes problems.
IIRC it was about queueing all resource buildings everywhere after acquiring investments rights without the intent to ever build them, thus preventing the other player from constructing a single mine or lumber mill as long as the first player still has them queued.
If I was Germany I would have released Venice and help them form Italy as it would give the team a huge advantage. A little bit weaker early but a lot stronger later.
I remember playing a game of Vic3 competitive multiplayer where I did the China catch and release strategy as Belgium, whose only institution is education, and still has good tech (on par with Britain), with some other good laws (national militia). Towards the end of the first session, I as Belgium was importing guns from everyone to fuel China, and the France player was wondering where all his guns were going.
Ok so.... why is it a GDP competition instead of a prestige competition? Prestige takes GDP into consideration. Is it just that GDP is easier to scale with bigger nations?
the latest attempt at a hoi4 tourney was so fucking sad dude i made it in and just watched it get cooked from the inside out it was an honestly pathetic attempt seemed most interested in potential earnings and when those werent high they dropped it chained down into an ocean
Tarkus gaming is incredible. Is releasing Hungary from Supergermany better than releasing whatever the Lombard state is and trying to rush Italy? I think that would have been my first thought
I wonder if it's better to have the accepted Hungarian pops in the short term to make sure the team can fight in wars? France/Spain could have done a much better job at stopping Venice/Supergermany than stopping Hungary/Supergermany. Then maybe if Italy is conquered by the German team, Germany eats up Hungary and Hungary tag switches to Italy
Good video! I somewhat question the amount that the game master interferes and give advice and suggestions though. Probably a good idea to comment outside of voicechat, or just let the players do the talking with some prompting, instead of for example calling attention to sneaky things the other teams are doing. Just my two cents!
The reason why India gets Pashtun culture is because a lot of Pashtuns actually live in India - they’re known as Pathans! It’s really cool and a lot of Pathans identify more with India than Afghanistan.
This is not the reason. Its mainly just because the tag of India includes the whole British Raj area as its cores (modern day India Bangladesh and Pakistan). I'm a Pashtun from Pakistan and i do not strongly identify with India or Indians, or even "Desi" culture in general, and 99% of Pashtuns agree with this sentiment. It makes more sense for India to include Nepali and Sinhalese as primary cultures which it doesn't than Pashtun and Baloch as it currently does.
1:01:24 the reason why is because Berma was under a separate administration somewhat divided from the Raj as it was taking over by the British in a sudo protectorate way where they kicked out the royal family or reinstates them I can’t remember, along with the fact that they had their own separate independence movement and was also incorporated much later and for shorter time then the rest of the Indian sub Continent. Hope that helps :)
Very good video, I would agree the tactic of just filling up the que using investment rights is clearly unintended, and shouldnt be allowed once rights are rewoked
