25:24 That could make for an interesting Diplomatic Play: "Become my protectorate, or I withdraw all my foreign investment". In this case the timer running out results in the investment being pulled, rather than a war being started. The defender could de-escalate by negotiating a compromise, or escalate by declaring it's intent to nationalise said investment.
15:10 I'm just glad that privately owned building will finally downsize on their own if unprofitable for a sufficiently ling period of time ☺️ Also I think in one of the dev responses they confirmed that the good remains in the market the building is located in which makes sense.
@@Paraboxx__ I believe he misunderstood your comment, thinking the Monarchist Napoleon III USA was the "Insecurities" due to a very vocal minority of players getting upset about "historically inaccurate" or "unrealistic" outcomes. And darn, I wanted to do that. My ultimate goal is not Monarchist Napoleon III USA, but Monarchist Karl Marx USA.
I hate the fact that Sphere Of Influence was delayed, but i am also very much happy that they pushed it back, because they would have more time to cook.
@@jernlaween12 true, but i kinda feel sympathy for them idk why tho. i like the game even in its release version, i sometimes play in 1.1 just because gdp is easier and i want to have fun.
You gotta re-read some of the DD comments. They clarify a lot of things you mention. For example you won’t be able to control PM’s in foreign buildings and you won’t get the goods from those buildings into your market. The other thing is that it seems to be very limited situations where you would be in a separate market from someone who you can foreign invest in
I genuienly hate how Paradox has decided for an year now that every single game they release has to be undercoocked and underdeveloped, still selling it for 40 bucks and then selling 20 bucks DLC which give things which should have been in the base game all along. Its a toxic relationship and I wont buy any more DLCs, its such an anti customer policy and I hear everyone complain about it without ever doing something, maybe we should stop showing paradox that we will still pay and tell them that either they make a full game at release and maybe cook one or two REALLY BIG DLCs later or we will stop paying them
Kinda seems like every paradox entry has been delayed from prison architect 2 to mellina dlc to vicky 3 dlc. Not sure whats happening over at paradox but i think they are starting to see the writing on the wall people are sick of them. On another note why do they have so many games, no wonder they cant produce anything good lately they are stretched thin over maintaining like a dozen games
Victoria 3 sadly just leaves me with a bad taste in my mouth. There is so much potential but everytime I play a few campaigns it just feels a bit empty. The thing that bums me out the most is the very litle historical flavour the game has, and how shallow a lot of game mechanics are, like laws, journal entries, discrimination etc. I really hope they step it up this dlc. From what I gather from the dev diaries I don't think it will though. But like you said in the beginning of the video, we'll have to wait until the dlc comes out.
Journal entries are so absurd, I usually get communists first THEN spring time of nations Also having airships when it’s a tier IV tech and it’s ticking is a joke
7:30 I think this needs to be said more. The forums espcially seem to be caught in this mode of either hostile anti dev pessimism or gung ho these features seem great so they will be great positivism with very little inbetween. Makes it hard to even talk about these mechanics in any sort of sensical way.
im both grateful and upset. Grateful that the dlc may be released in a decent state and upset that paradox has a skill issue and doesn't know what working hard to deliver means
One possible danger with supporting independence might be if it becomes an easy way of stealing a puppet. Suppose you are playing Japan and you offer to support a Korean play for independence. It encourages them to fight Qing, you team up 2v1 to beat them, then two years later you force Korea into becoming your puppet. Feels like you should have a running reputation on what you stand for so you cant just go back on your principles like that.
technically we already have foreign investment in game, if I dump a ton of iron and sulfur into Belgium and import explosives the AI often just spams that because it's the most profitable situation for itself... on another note, I feel it would be interesting if there was an AI specifically controlling private and worker owned buildings, for example a privately owned iron mine would be focused on creating the most dividend profit for it's capitalist/aristocrat class while a worker owned one would be setting production based on keeping it's wages up for the workers while country owned are based on whatever the country's objectives are such as expanding it a lot to create cheaper arms for itself
The thing is that an AI is not needed since it all boils down to production methods, as profit is only dependent on the price of goods and wages are set by hiring bottlenecks. Having capitalist ownership simply means profit is shared among them while workers are paid the bare minimum, which is the reason why removing them improves wages massively
Nice video. I only disagree on one thing, flavor is very important. In our day and age for most people it'll the entry point to historical facts/positions that they wouldn't have heard of otherwise.
journal entries help noobs figure out what theyre supposed to be doing. once you have a better grasp of the game you can ignore them if you prefer, but they can still be neat to complete
I love how they claim they didn't want to copy and paste Victoria 2 and instead make a new game...that is just openly ripping off CK3, Hoi4, and now stellaris. At no point has Wizzington proven he is anything more than a derivative modboi who can only trawl the forums to silence any critique of his incompetence and paradox as a whole is just recycling old work.
@@StalinsGhost to the point they needed an entire *extra* team to go over it...but lets give him a new team and a game that has had a devoted for a decade fanbase, what can go wrong? And i say all this as a guy who didnt get into vic2 and poked at vic3 in curiosity and i think vic3 was a pile of crap with a predatory "tutorial" designed to string you along until you cant refund it.
@@mordreek Yep the game was totally broken but most importantly the game was not FUN. The amount of micromanagement you needed to do to make trivial decisions was insane. When you got to 6+ planets the micro was just overwhelming and unplayable. It took several months or up to a year until the new devs fixed this mess with districts. He then proceeded to make the exact same mess for vicky 3. Not sure if there is a conflation between clicks per minute and fun in their minds.
