And she just won a Tony Award for Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a musical for playing a 16 year old in the new musical, Kimberly Akimbo at the Booth Theatre. That show won 5 Tonys, the most in the 2022-23 season.
How do we get to see this whole production! This is absolutely the best filmed performance I've ever seen of this great number. Victoria Clark is a soprano who can blue a note - and is she ever a sexy number. The staging is perfect. Score one more point for a golden age musical!
I saw that production!! I was in the ensemble in my high school's production of "Lady in the Dark" and a big fan of the show! It's a real treat to see this show produced.
MasterVoices announced plans to release a recording of this one during last season's announcement but I don't know where that stands. Thanks for this treasure.

She was born to play leading lady rôles written pre-1945. One of my favourite things she has ever done was the first thing I ever heard her in: Mrs Mister in “The Cradle Will Rock”. She’s never actually played it but played an actress playing the rôle in the original 1937 production in the 1999 movie “Cradle Will Rock”. Her voice is hardly heard in the movie but she is in a few tracks on the movie soundtrack album. Oddly they changed her character to “Dulcie Fox” when the real actress who played Mrs Mister was Peggy Corday. Her “Reverend Salvation” is brilliant, would love to see her play Mrs Mister in a proper production. Had hoped “Encores!” might have made it so, and performed it with the cast in the auditorium, as became tradition.

This is everything, to make the song work is a test, cause it's often abridged. Every MT Actress needs to try the Saga as a test to see if they can make it as great as this was.
If we can't have footage of Gertrude Lawrence's performance, Victoria Clark's is the next best thing. The chorus's costumes and staging are odd, though.
