Victoria University, VU, is a public research university based in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. It is a dual-sector university, providing courses in both higher education and technical and further education (TAFE). The university has several campuses in Melbourne city center, Melbourne Western Region, and Sydney. VU is home to more than 40000 students.
Victoria University is ranked in the world’s top 2% and 45th in the world’s top universities aged under 50 in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings.
Victoria University has a College of Arts, Business, Law, Education and IT, College of English, Foundation and Pathways, College of Sport, Health & Engineering. VU is ranked in the top 10 universities worldwide for sports science. The university also has the VU First Year colleges for first-year students, University Online for postgraduate courses, and University Polytechnic which provides education closely linked to industry.
The university's main campus and administrative center is at Footscray Park Campus on Ballarat Road, Footscray. It offers higher education courses primarily in engineering, education, and sport-related disciplines.
The campus overlooks Flemington Racecourse and the Maribyrnong River. A $68 million sport and learning precinct, including sport and exercise science research labs, was completed in 2011. The campus also has a 25-meter swimming pool and a childcare center.
Footscray Nicholson Campus in central Footscray delivers TAFE, Victorian Certificate of Education VCE and short courses.
