-Eos is another name for Aurora, the goddess of the dawn. -"Crossing the Bar" is an 1889 poem by Tennyson . The poem occured to him "in a moment" and when he read it to his nurse she was shocked that she felt it as his own death song. Thus it is stated in his biography "Alfred Tennyson" by his grandson Charles Tennyson. -In "Locksley Hall Sixty Years After"(1886), a sequel to Locksley Hall., the unstable and passionate hero of the earlier poem, now an old man of eighty, looks back on the past -Tiresias and Other Poems(1885), dedicated "to Robert Browning, whose genius and geniality will best appreciatewhat may be best and make most allowance for what may be worse" -Browning paid tribute to him in the dedication of his volume of Selections of 1886: To Alfred Tennyson, in poetry consummate and sublime, in friendship noble and sincere.

Additional info: Tennyson ()Timbuctoo -248 lines, blank verse , quoted between the title and first line :"//Deep in that lion-haunted inland lies // A mystic city, goal of high emprise// - Chapman ()the lady in the poem "Isabel", first published in "Poems, chiefly Lyrical"(1830), is modelled on poet's mother. *The poet also pays tribute to his mother through the sympathetic portrayal of her as the Prince's mother in "The Princess"(1847) ()Between the title and the first line in "Mariana" is the lines: "Mariana in the moated grange-" taken from the Shakespeare's "Measure for Measure" ()Eastern poems of Tennyson: "Recollections of the Arabian Nights", "The Ancient Sage", "Akbar's Dream" ()Mariana was reprinted in 1842 edition as "Mariana in the South" ()"The Miller's Daughter"is a poem in which the speaker is an old man who reminisces about the love of his youth, the wealthy miller's daughter. ()"Palace of art" can be understood as Tennyson's criticism of the doctrine of art for art's sake.

Very nice lecture mam, I really loved it. Actually I qualified last NET with 178 marks but still think I need to study literature. Though issue of livelihood intrude my way, somehow I am trying to avail space for my interest in varied disciplines, like English literature, ELLT, linguistics, women's studies, translation, proofreading, teaching, etc. But I am enjoying your lectures a lot, I am getting motivated by them to continue with various interests but with enough depth...

Dear mam, I am one of ur students who listens to u only through youtube channel. I'm in no way connected to your regular classes. I listen to ur lectures with all ears and take notes. They emulate me a crore, I would say. But it is distracting if you use ur students name in between the lectures. I very well understand that you do this to enable a classroom atmosphere for ur students..yet it is a bit confusing.. you used a word "bhavani".. is it a work or a student name?? I got confused.. so I rewound d video and understood that it was not the student name... Mam, it is my humble request..it would be much helpful if you avoid using the names of students in between the lectures mam..just to avoid unwanted misunderstandings in taking notes as well.... kindly apologise me if Im wrong, mam. Kindly acknowledge my comment in a positive tone, mam.
