I've been carrying this model for 23 years. Always on my keychain, helping me on small, even medium tasks around the house. From opening toys for my children when they were just kids up to installing ceiling fans.
This model was originally a medical and pharmacology tool, hence the scalpel blade, orange peeler, as it were, is for cutting sutures, and the ‘cuticle-pusher’ is in fact a spatular which is handy for separating and counting pills. I have the Alox version which I used in a pharmacy as an assistant and it was ideal in my everyday work. Great little tool. Thank you for posting this video.
Great review! For over ten years now, I've carried the slightly smaller Midnite Manager on my keys, so they come everywhere with me on my travels. I keep it attached to my keys with a strong magnet for quick release for when I need it. It's been indispensable and I don't know what Id do without it! From opening boxes, cutting and filing nails, cutting paper, taking down notes, opening bottles of cider, cutting tags off clothes, cutting open little packets of sauce that never tear open, unscrewing back covers of torches with the Phillips screwdriver, the tweezers get used far more than I ever thought it would! The list goes on! The SAK is so invaluable, incredibly well made, its worth every penny I spent on it.
I have it and it's so useful for an edc pocket knife. No need for more. I also play the harmonica and this pocket knife happens to be a great tool to tune and maintain them.
I have this one and the Alox model and I absolutely love the both of them. It’s a perfect little EDC MultiTool. And the small Phillips screwdriver can do larger screws better then most people might think. Thanks Slippy ❤️👍
Love the Mini-Champ! I wear one on a lanyard around my neck! Comes in handy. I keep a Deluxe Tinker in a sheath on my belt sometimes. I did add a sewing needle with 1 meter of thread wound around the needle (pre-threaded) under the orange peeler and sheep’s foot/wharncliff blade for emergencies. Great video! Keep up the great work.👍
Hey Slippy, Another great review 👍🏻 Great little 58mm SAK, one that I’ve yet to get but have thought about pulling the trigger on many times. Although I do have the full size Champ 😀 Thanks for the look brother 😎👍🏻
Very nice! I love the package opener. These are multifunctional tools to me - they call it an orange peeler but it's also a good package opener - and with no blade to make people uncomfortable. 😮
Great review! I heard that this was originally meant to be a medical tool, I’m sure I read somewhere that the wharncliffe blade was meant to be used as a miniature scalpel, like for tracheotomies in an emergency. I’ve had one of these on my keys for a few years, I reach for it a lot more often than it thought I would, super handy! Enjoyed the review and you’ve gained a new sub 😊
Love this! Though I do think for keyring carry the Alex version is the way to go - so much thinner and holds up incredibly well to scuffs and scratches.
Great knife Matt. I have two but they are both Alox so no pen or scale tools. From what I recall the blade on the Mini Chanp ,one of two Victorinox blades referred to as an orange peeler(the other being on the Executive.) has a medical background, as does the mini-champ itself, and that orange peeler blade was called a picker-sticker or something like that, used to open the seal on pill bottles then using that "picker" blade to pull the cotton out of the bottles. Also, the Wharncliffe blade is referred to as an "emergency" or Tracheotomy blade. Thanks for sharing.
I love my wee alox minichamp. Although it has one or two extra tools I might not need much (the cuticle pusher comes to mind), the alox model is the same thickness as the rambler. It has three useful blades between wee orange peeler, scalpel and mainblade which means you can keep a nice sharp one for precision work and have the others for say cutting food or opening packages.
As a British subject, I was extremely TRIGGERED when you brandished that Assault Knife. OMG! How have you not gone to prison for terrorism for being armed with a _sharpened stick?_
Always prefer two bladed ones. But why on earth does not Spartan or Climber have the smaller blade wharncliff shaped? Would make them even more stellar.
Great review as always Slippy. Love my Mini Champ. It finds its way into my 5th pocket most weekends now over my Classic SD or Queen Mini Canoe. A much more useful option. Plus I love that little wharny blade. Almost at 1.5k subs already 😮 👊🏻
It's a nice little ... can sit in my jacket pocket and solve a bunch of problems that I have today and cut up some fruit kind of knife. Plus the fact that I have a pen with me that I can't eat.... cannot be underated. Only negative is the scissors are a lot smaller than the larger ones.... so feel very fragile. Am I panicking over nothing?
I don't even do drugs, but that's clearly a cocaine spoon. 😂 Also, if you love somewhere people get nervous about knives, you should try to normalize them through exposure.
