From 1919, now in the public domain. You get Lon Chaney and Wallace Beery as younger actors before the sound age. Jack Holt made his name as an action star for many years, mostly at Columbia, and in various roles after leaving there.
Is Lon Cheney Schomberg or is he Ricardo? Ricardo looks too young to be played by Lon Cheney. Well ALL of these characters in "Victory" are pretty much heavies except for Axel Heyst. i love the short novel, prefer it over many of Conrad's more famous works, especially the fantastically complex "Nostromo." Zangiacomo, also, is anpther loathsome character, and I do get the strong impression he is more pimp than band leader. But Conrad is no hamfisted , cliché contaminated writer .Oh to be in the Dutch East Indies around 1914! Ey wot?
Yep and Wallace Berry is Schomberg who plays a major part, also, in Conrad's great novel, "Lord Jim" Being Polish himself, it seems Conrad has little use fir Germans
This dreck came from the pen of Joseph Conrad? Some novels should just never be made into movies. I don't expect movies-from-books to be word for word identical. But this is a pathetic handful of Conrad's novel. PS - I take nothing away from Lon Chaney.
