Sad I missed this when it came out. Poor Hood it really needed that deck armor upgrade she was suppose to get. At least prince of Whales did things as oppose to have her turrets freeze up in what really happened. Just got the starter to this game hope to get them painted up and give it a shot my self.
An interesting fact. Not a fun fact, but a very grim one. The reason why so many of hood’s crew didn’t survive, wasn’t because of the explosion. What happen when something has a hole in it, under water? The answer is, water goes in. Well the bigger the hole, the more water pours in. The hole in hood was so large, as it filled with water, it pulled the sailors down with it. For me, knowing this adds an additional layer of respect for those who died.
If I am right, you still get to role the Critical for the Prinz hitting the Prince of Whales at min 33. So even though it does no damage, it can cause a crit as an 8" shell could kill crew or set fires, etc. Great battle report. I might have to start doing this myself and make a few videos.
Also for your point blank shot no matter what the modifier is all ones fail and you counted some of those because it says once filled no matter what the modifier is

@SIOSpawn kriegsmarine v kriegsmarine would be very interesting and also good fun. Go for it 😃. Solo is fun however it can be complicated following the rules full to the T. As long as you enjoy it that's all that matters 👍🏻. Battle of the Atlantic would be a great step if you can get a Royal Navy fleet to play with.
According to the rules, only Light Guns or AA Battery weapons with more than one Attack Dice can split fire. All Attack Dice from Main Guns, Torpedoes, and Bombs are directed at a single target. I've noticed you doing this also in your Pacific campaign series.
It's throughout your games. You'll have the front turrets target one ship and the back turrets targeting another. In reality, the main guns or turrets used the same targeting computers and so would try and track/target the same ship no matter how the attacking ship is aligned to the target. Light guns were set up in sections along the ship which is why they were able to split fire between multiple targets. This is why the rules are stated as they are.
Interesting, when reading the rules under 'Nominate target' it does say every weapon system may be fired at different targets. 🤔 I will do some research on it some more. 👍🏻
Ah, I see the confusion. If you read carefully, splitting fire is explaining how light guns and AA guns with more than one Attack dice (AD) may split its fire among multiple different targets. The key word is Attack Dice (AD) For example, light gun weapon system with 6 AD can allocate 3 AD on target A, and its remaining 3 AD on target B. A main gun on the other hand, like Turret A, with 3 AD cannot split those Attack Dice. It must shoot all AD at one target. Turret B can Nominate the same target as Turret A, or it can Nominate a different target. Because it is a single weapon system as described on the Basics page. Page 37 in big book. Every weapon system may be fired at different targets as per the Nominate target section. I'm at Warlord games this week so will seek to find out more about this ruling and hopefully get a bit more clarification on it. 👍🏻
After the HMS Hood debacle, why did the Prince of Wales not fire its light guns at the Prinz Eugen? Could the Prince of Wales not have closed on the Bismark and also reduced the risk from torpedo attack or at least present the torpedo armour belt to the Prinz Eugen? Apologies if I'm asking stupid questions.
Great questions 👍🏻 to be honest I did get caught up in the big gun battle where I did forget light guns and could of used them a little more 😀. The Prince of Wales was lucky with its rolls in regards to its main guns remain active. On a play test of the rule used once the Prince of Wales lost its guns it became very vulnerable. I made the mistake of the Eugen picking the fight with Prince of Wales when it should of gone for Hood as it could beats its armour. Yet completing forgetting torpedo belts, which was a bad error on that part. If Hood and Prince of Wales concentrate on getting close to bismarck while leaving Prinz Eugen be, I think it would of gone the Royal navy's ways. 👍🏻
Yep those light guns could have saved the Prince of Wales a lot of damage and swung the game back to the RN. However, I have to add that it’s rather mad of the rules that the Eugen’s 8inch guns can’t do any damage to the PoW. When I played this game the RN ripped the kriegsmarine to bits and in a great twist of fate the Hood got a critical hit on the Bismarck that sank it in one! Keep up the great content.
@@elwayward3668 in typical warlord fashion they made the British ships more powerful than they should be. 8" guns should at least have a chance to damage BBs. Even if it requires a 6 and then another 6 like in bolt action.
When you start off needing sixes and you get plus two for armor piercing then you need to get fours so stop saying that you need sixes and then doing the math in the dice tray just say you need fours and up
