I think they are looking better on camera, but look on RU-vid for different techniques and find which suits you best and adapt it to your needs, also Duncan Rhodes has some good tutorials, also check out The Miniature Painter, he has some good videos too, I'm sure with practice you will get good and possibly even better than me👍
