Shocked to hear of the Spitfire accident and the loss of the pilot. As other people have said, fine tribute at the end of the video. Good to see Spen back, used to be a regular way back when! What is so wrong with the Mosquito?
I’m sure Neville will correct me, but my understanding is the 10 year time frame has been abandoned. Due to it taking much longer to restore major parts like the wings etc. Plus financing the project has become more difficult in recent years. It’s more a case of it’ll be done, when it’s done. 🙂
Hi Chipmonk, the ten year time frame (schedule) has been canceled it not realistic, no one can give a date for completion I think you may be looking at a minimum of 7 more years this is my guess.
Great tribute to the BBMF pilot, very emotive thank you. On a lighter note, regarding that laser aligning tool, it would be a mistake as you dont want something that's less accurate than Gerbs...
I find the B-17 interesting - thank you for showing. How owns/operates it ? Also, that there are qualified mechanics in Britain to work on the Wright 1830 - four of which provide the motive power for the B-17, and your B-25 if you ever want to get that flying. Hi HH, the Centre are having two engine serviced in USA for the B-25, and yes there are mechanics to do the work in the UK. Check out the B17 www.sallyb.org.uk/
i can well imagine the test kit required for some of the equipment used throughout the years by the RAF and associated parties maintaining equipment externally - i did some work with a museum some years back and saw the test rigs used in conjunction with the EE Lightning, i think there is one similar rig next to the Lightning at Hendon, might be wrong, could be else where but someone will know what i'm talking about of course much equipment is superseded out with the old valve stuff and in with the new digital stuff, but i do know a few guys who will often build there own equipment to test stuff and are pretty good at it, but i guess when you require reliability and certification, it's better to send stuff away, all about money and who to wag fingers at when things go wrong great tribute to Mark Long, blue skies
Hi nev. Can't believe I missed u on the 25th. What a great day but very sad in the end it was. We came back on Thursday to sign the book of condolence as well. It great to meet a couple of the lads and see the work they are doing as well.

Mr. Wheeldon. Is there a resource that explains which each part of the restoration project is which. Just Jane, the French Lancaster etc. I'm not sure what the parallel projects are, how they inter-relate and what the completion dates are. Know what I mean?
The Rivet Club provides a great explanation of which parts are from which aircraft etc. You will have to make small donation each month to receive the newsletters, but it is money well spent and all funds go towards a worthy cause.
A simple graphic, perhaps one of you “in the know” can create one. If I’m right, there is a Lanc “Just Jane”, a ground-runner that is being restored over a decade to flight-worthy status. Incorporating parts from a French Lancaster. So, my questions are: will Just Jane fly. Will the French Lanc be the ground runner? What are the time frames to completion? Any body out there who knows?
