As this project moves along in year seven the whole thing is becoming more real. When I first strted watching this and supporting "Just Jane", I thought maybe? The determination to suceed and progress is infectious. I wish I lived closer to be able to help if only to sweep the floors but old age and living in Scotland makes this inpractible.. Andrew you have collected a fantastic team of dedicated folk. It's compulsive viewing and on rare occaisions (for me) visiting.
Thanking you for the update on the David Brown and the other updates. Thank you for the time and effort you put into all the videos to keep us updated on the progress being made on the refurbishment Neville.
Theses movies are so great, I not aleys have time to watch them, but when I have time I love it to 100% and dream living close there and beeing able to support these guys. Keep up the amazing work
Very interesting about the DB engine, and the rear fuselage is looking amazing. The addition of just the two reinforcing skins makes it look far more solid. It won't be long before its back on Jane where it belongs. Thanks again Neville.
Most excellent progress recorded and displayed. I particularly liked the “magic skin” where you show Dave laying the skin up on the left side of the door, it starts to fall backward over his head, and he catches it, and pushes it back against the formers and strings - you snap your fingers, and PRESTO, the skin is flat with 20 Cleco fasteners in place. Well done !
I get so involved with the work being done. So much so that I put my hand up to the screen to catch the skin when it was folding backwards!! "Touch screen" only goes so far! Keep up the good work & videos.
Neville - THANK YOU so much for your efforts. I am still trying to figure out how to get to East Kirby next year when our cruise ship passes near next year.
I'd like to see the manufacturer's stamping on the back of the new David Brown thrust washers. They could well have been made by Glacier Vandervell in Kilmarnock, I may well have had a hand in making them.
The new skins look fabulous compared to the old but there always seem a lot of work to be done! I'd be curious to hear if the restoration is currently on schedule (with a completion date in mind)? I'm sure trying to source fabricators of parts is always a challenge and also at a premium cost. Thanks as always Mr. Wheeldon & to all at the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre!
I think about the schedule and to be honest the hardest part to restore is yet to come... The main cockpit and fuselage. I think the original 10 year plan is by the by I think 20 years is more like it. But I will support the effort for ad long as I can.
