.218 bee 25-20 ,and .32-20 all fine shooting older cartridges! .22 hornet has hung on over time more than the others! All are fine cartridges with many game animals accredited to them!
Thanks for your comments! Yes, I'll have to agree those are all fine cartridges. I have owned all 3 of them over the years and I think the 218 bee was my favorite.
Thanks for your comment! As a young person, I used to look longingly at the ads for an Anschutz rifle - I forget the model now. As for the 22 hornet, mine is very accurate too. Nice to shoot, easy to reload.
Thanks for your comments! This model 44 rifle had already been converted when I bought it, I just wish it was a true falling block for this caliber like the model 44 1/2. Since this model 44 is a swinging block, which isn't as strong, I have to keep my loads down a bit to 22 WCF levels.
Really unique calibers that I have never heard of or seen before. Great video. I have also never seen an externally adjusted scope before. Shouldn't rolling blocks be called dropping blocks if they drop and don't roll? :)
Glad you enjoyed the video! The more unusual the cartridge the better for me. I do have more common calibers as well, but I lean toward the unique. Yes, you don't see the externally adjusted scopes as often anymore, but they are fantastic scopes - especially the Unertl. They were used in WWII by both the US and Canada on sniper rifles. Thanks for watching!
Would like to find some 25-20ss brass, been looking for a few years now. My understanding is that most of the 2520ss brass was used up to make 22 lovel rounds.
It is very hard to find, and you are absolutely right about it being made into 22 Lovell, 22-3000 Lovell and 2R Lovell (2-R Lovell, R2 Lovell) - so many variations of this cartridge. I found some at an auction with a bunch of 22-3000 Lovell by Griffin & Howe, mixed in and fire-formed them back to 25-20SS. I annealed the necks before fire-forming to reduce the risk of cracking. The G&H 22-3000 was made until the 1960s, so you might have better luck looking for it. Thanks for your comment!
