I realized that tragically like 8 years ago when I was desperately trying to find him on google. Learned the hard way. I went complaining about it to my cool trendy friend that knows all the cool new music and asked her why I couldn’t find him on google and she finally told me there is no e. Now, I never forget 😆

I know a lot of people say that this is the song that would make you speed on a highway at like 100 mph :D I agree with that~ The intensity of the video really matches the vibe, since The Weeknd is being distracted by the fame, the lights of Vegas, the party life. It shows him under the influence and it seems like he's having a good time, but in reality on the inside, he's really broken and desperate for someone to get him out of that state and away from those blinding lights. And he's the only one that stands out in the video, since he is lonely, and matches the desperation he needs from getting outta of the life he lives in Vegas. The upbeat tempo really stands out, since it distracts you from how desperate the lyrics are, and The Weeknd definitely did it on purpose. Definitely caught me off guard the first time I saw the video and listened to the song.

Hey! Thanks for your continious reactions. I really enjoy how you explain which camera shots and transitions have certains effects on us and how it connects the storylines in musicvideos. I think you would enjoy the MV for I*zone Fiesta, its a Kpop group and in this MV they use awesome images to transition from one set/person to the next one and have continuing themes. I would like to know your thoughts about it because they have an effect on me but i cant pinpoint how they do it because its really fast at certain points XD. The thing that gets me about this video is that there's a non linear timeline. I feel like his goal is Vegas which we're shown in the beginning but then it cuts back and forth between LA and Vegas, but both at night. It's like even he doesn't know where he is. Maybe to represent the dislocation felt from being intoxicated. Also I think those are loafers with sort of a fake spat rather than a mary jane.

About that continuity thing you said. I remember Jackie Chan talking about how he would over lay frames between cuts because as a viewer it feels fluid (like how he was floating but the next shot he still is on the ground).
