An interesting thesis, and well thought-out. Repetitive, routine actions free the mind of the possible burden of consciousness. This is illustrated powerfully in the scene where Jeanne has an empty hour to fill; she does not know how to go about that, and wishes not to have to think or to be conscious. Socially constructed roles tend to punish gender, and perhaps that is why we all seek the comforts of routine, repetitive, and even ritualistic actions.
