Chester Bennington was amazingly talented, I can't believe this has happened!! I feel more angry than sad and wish depression could somehow be cured. It is the root that has claimed so many in 2016.. God bless his family. I hope the media somehow respects their privacy and allow them to mourn in an already hard time in their lives.
As someone who has been struggling with this issues since childhood I can agree I wish it could somehow be cured too so I could just STOP having to deal with it every day. It's so sad and heartbreaking to think of the people who can't deal with the pain any longer and they have been pushed past their breaking point and choose to end their lives. Unfortunately with depression their is no cure just pills and coping mechanisms to try to put the thoughts and overwhelming sadness on a back burner until one day you learn how to live with it hopefully and coexist with it. In my opinion people with depression will always have it, they will just find the strength to become better than it and think rationally instead of emotionally.
Depression is a bitch. It's not only a symptom, but also a disorder. I have depression and can tell you some days can be a struggle. It's a tragedy that Chester passed away so young. I'm going to miss him as much as everyone else will and send the best to his family and friends.
I can completely sympathize with how he was probably feeling today. I'm sure anyone with depression or any mental disorder like it can. We have those completely debilitating days where we feel like our world just isn't working out and maybe we just shouldn't be here and it just saddens me that he could no longer see the light in it. As a student currently attend UCF, this story troubles me. My thoughts being why would the largest university in the United States focus its attention on this one kid? Personally I feel sketchy about the whole Baltimore police ordeal, I'm in the military where we use the line "perception is reality" in many scenarios and unfortunately in my opinion it seems like this was staged, there is unfortunately way too many cases nowadays that don't favor cops and while I like to believe that there is hope that good cops definitely exist (and they do, I know), it really just doesn't look good.

What changed is the internet. People are now, both knowingly and unknowingly, box themselves into echo chambers. As the people say more and more radical things there's never anyone there to stop them and eventually it evolves into things like Antifa. Knowing example: On sites like Tumblr people that don't share the hivemind will often be berated or just plain outright ignored. Then on Twitter there's massive blocklists that have many people, like Phil, listed on them for not always agreeing with them. Unknowing example: Liking a post of Facebook that leans to either side politically will have your recommended feed flood with other things that have the same political leaning as what you liked, meaning you'll often end up interacting less with people that don't share that same political leaning.

Chester was also the one who got me into music, i when i was ten i wanted Linkin Park to be my first concert, so 10 years later my brother surprised me with tickets as an early birthday present, one week from today, next Thursday i was supposed to see them live, they where gonna be my first concert. Chester and his music will always be in my heart, cuz i grew up and shaped with his music for half my life, his music will forever live in his fans, friends, and family.

Universities have no business getting involved in crime on campus. That's what the justice system is for. Unfortunately the US is overrun with crime so the police can't do their jobs. This is also appropriate with the Baltimore issue and The one in Philadelphia the other day... It's become a revolving door of crime over there. I know it is different than usual, but the fact that he got so much hate for a album, that had suicidal lyrics and quite clearly was a note or a request of help is absolutely terrifying to me. If you listen to those songs or even read the names (For example Good goodbye and Invincible) you can clearly see, that he was thinking of suicide for a longer period of time. Also now suicidal lyrics are much clearer than a decade ago. Every album has been a bit like the last, but the last was different with it's lyrics. it's possible they found the drugs and were then reenacting the scene for the camera. in which case what they did was stupid but not illegal. there is an investigation which will try to determine whether the drugs were planted or legitimately found. it's called due process, you are innocent until proven guilty. and if you aren't willing to give that to people you hate then you can't demand it for people you support.
heard bout chester right before watching todays pds. my first thoughts after the shock was i hope phil covers it. as someone who struggles with depression and suicidal thoughts this hit me hard. same when Robin Williams passed as well. people that influenced me for the majority of my life. so, I'm glad you tell people to seek help, you never really know what goes on in people's lifes. i got help and meds to keep me from falling into depression as easily. last year was really hard but this year, since i started on meds, i have been able to achieve my personal goals. i still have more to accomplish but empowered to do so. if you are struggling there is help, don't think you are less for needing. seek help. lots of love to the nation!

In my opinion the only way to get police departments across the country to stop planting evidence and other misconduct is to make them wear body cams that are always on and recording. In addition to that they should make it where the data collected by the body cams is stored and processed by a third party that is not connected or controlled by the police department or the prosecutor's office. Perhaps make it a company that is contracted on a state level to do it, and monitored by the state court system. The footage of all searches and investigations should then be made available to both the prosecutor and the defense. Also make it law where if it was not caught on dash or body cam then it can not be used in court. To many cops have been getting away with lies for years. So to me it is time to stop giving their testimony the benefit of the doubt in court.

I'm curious what kind of incentive an individual officer would have to do something like this. The root of the problem is above his pay grade, because someone is rewarding this somehow.
In theory that is what they are suppose to do but in practice they are there to either write tickets, arrest or intimidate/eliminate potential threats. This is usually due to how officers rise in rank based on perceived results such as arrests for example in this case they very well could have found the drugs prior (though I doubt it) however regardless it is quite clear they can't be trusted

when you said Chester had died I thought you were lying or it was a hoax wtf I I'm seriously pissed I knew chris's death had a huge impact on him but I didn't think it would drive him to suicide. We have now lost another legendary singer, I cannot comprehend what mike and the rest of the band/family is going through rip Chester.
Honestly I am a pro cop supporter but stuff like this destroys the trust and makes them look bad. Smh I don't want to sentence him before a full investigation is over but if he did plant it he should be punished just as example to all other cops. They're here to protect and serve and they should never forget that.

No girl writes a 4 page apology letter if she has nothing to apologize for. We all know she cheated. And he exposed her BS. How many of you think any University would jump into a defense mode for a cheatig guy and tried to punish girl who reviewed his letter? She would be praised and celebrated. Seems to me like this situation create perfect environment for really toxic people - mainly women unable to admit to wrongdoing and cheating.
I am an average white guy in my 30s. I had an incident with the police of my city that completely changes my perception of cops. Based on that, I would not be surprised at all if cops plant evidence in these situations and not just in Baltimore. In my experience many departments just want to close cases and will do whatever they have to do go get them closed even if it means punishing innocent people. This is a product of Metric driven bureaucracy. Police departments should be focused on getting the actual criminals, not just anyone to add to the closed case count.

You sound like a person who thinks police have a quota... this simply is not true. My husband is a state trooper. They do not have pressure to close cases, (from supervisors, the general public is another story) or pressure to pull people over.

as far as i can tell, it seems wrong to post personal stuff online. to me that's very similar to gossiping a mild thing. granted, everyone else took it way to far, but i don't seem him as blameless. maybe on the level of a professional person using curse words and gets fired for it. they went too far, but i sort of get it.
The girl poured her heart into that letter and you just cannot publically post it online. Bash your ex to your closest friends, but if you publically humiliate someone, especially when they just demeaned themselves like that for you, it makes you a class a douchebag. Lukas You most definitely can publish and tear apart a note from someone. If there is no identifying information (a first name is not considered identifying) then it's perfectly legal. That said...this was a dick move...a funny dick move but one all the same. I would have likely sent the note along with my critiques to my friends so we could laugh about it but I wouldn't have put it up online. That said, this guy has some balls, so I can't help but give him some props for that.
To both of the people above me I understand that there than expection of privacy that's fine. The school the girl and him all could have done stuffed improve the situation, yes it was an awful thing for him to just suddenly post this letter on to the internet I got that BUT why the hell didn't the girl just talked to him in the private if she cares so much about privacy? Instead I assume she went to the school then the school got involved and reacted in a ridiculous way. They put him through a lot of shit over posting a photo ( they could have easily demanded an apology and told him to take the photo down ) instead they decided to overreact instead he got suspended ( Stoped his education ) and had him go to probation, if this goes on to his record it will affect him for the rest of his life; All that over a photo?
Seeing how police officers would do something like that is bizarre. Even though they can say that they're recreating the find after they found the drugs, but in the end, it's all talk. As everyone clearly sees, no video evidence exists of them actually finding the drugs to begin with, thus leading to the conclusion that the officers planted it to make them look like the hero for framing a suspect for drug possession. The citizens of Baltimore have every right to distrust the police force.
Correct response is to have always on cameras that record the entire day, rather then just a small bit, if nothing happens over that day the footage is deleted in a week, but if the cops make a bust then keep the footage till the whole thing is over. (court case ends and their is no questions about what happened based off the video evidence) this way a cop would know if they did anything it would be caught, and if they say removed the camera or blocked the image it would be caught. I find it insane how people say I am attacking the badge when advocating this, when I am defending the freedom of the American people. I believe in the police and know they are really important (more the most seem to realize) but to purposely ignore potential problems is to allow them to grow and fester. You can still have cancer if you don't go to the doctor and you can still have corrupt cops if you ignore every sign of them.
My options on today's episode? Nick should get back together with Elizabeth. I mean she has a Jeep. Did you know that Jeep is the most awarded SUV class ever! That's a keeper in my opinion.

James MacDonnell yes it can, and it does. It is not difficult for local, state and federal LE to be franted funds to create a database to store it Video does not take up a huge amount of space when it is such shitty quality, and storage servers no longer cost alot
I'm no computer expert but isn't it possible to have a program that automatically compress the videos, say after 6 months and then after, say 1 or 2 years the video gets deleted automatically if someone hasn't flagged it for use? Edit: or compress the videos after 48h. Worst case scenario it takes a while to "unpack" if you have to use it, but I can't imagine a situation where there's some extreme hurry to watch these videos all of a sudden.
thank you for commenting on Chester. Depression is a hell of a disease. it isnt fair he's gone. why do some of us survive depression and some of us don't? I have no idea. it isn't fair that a man who helped millions, who helped me, get past very dark times is gone. what does that say about me? why am I still here? why did I survive and not him? I haven't done shit beyond a normal mediocre life and haven't touched no where near as many lives. it doesn't make sense. I hold back tears writing this because it's hit very close to home. chester and linkin park were sometimes the only light I had in a dark place and now he's gone. I had tickets to see them in 3 months for the first time. I'm sorry I waited so long and ill beat myself up over it for the rest of my life. at least the music is still there. I can always connect on that level. rip Chester. who cared if one more light went out? we did.
I think that he handled it well, if she is shit girlfriend he's in the process of healing. This kind of stuff helps, if you don't want to be put on blast don't be a piece of shit. Or just get used to the heat.
Chester's suicide really hit me hard. I had severe suicidal thoughts when I was between the ages of 14 and 17. Several occasions during that time, I attempted suicide. Those attempts thankfully failed, to some degree because of the music by Linkin Park. Music had a lot of sway in my recovery from my deepest depressions and defeating my inner demons that badgered me daily with feelings of unwantedness and thoughts that the lives of my friends and family would be better off without me. Linkin Park, and Chester's amazing vocal talent, touched my soul and helped me realize that life is worth living so much more than ending it all before I had the chance to live. I'm so sorry that Chester couldn't defeat his demons. He will be missed so much and his talent will never be duplicated. Rest in peace. We love you.
Breonna Robertson I had suicidal thought at 13. My friends told a teacher. I am just so heartbroken today. I have been following Linkin Park for years and have shared my love with my son. Their music helped me emotionally move on from the 20 yr old I was emotionally for 9 gears after my father passed away. My heart hurts. I just feel so so sorry for his wife and the kids and the band. It is devastating.
