That's true, but I still think Dave B. Mitchell sounded mixed and he gave performance that left my mind conflicted. In Frontiers Prologue-animations he sounded great. In the game in some parts he sounded just like Travis Willingham, some parts sounded just like in TSR. He made Knuckles sounds at least 3 different ways in Frontiers and that's irritating and made Knuckle's voice inconsistent.
1. Dan Green - He honestly fits for Knuckles. 2. Scott Drier - If Dan Never Voiced Knuckles, Then Scott Would Be #1. 3. Idris Elba - Badass! But Sometimes Doesn't Fit For Knuckles. 4.Travis Willingham - Sound Similar To Dan Green. 5. Ryan Drummond - Yup, Guy Who Voiced Sonic From 1999-2003, Voiced Knuckles One Time Too! Kinda Sad That He Got Replaced. He Would Been Ranked Higher If He Voiced Knuckles For Some More Games.
1. Scott Dreier - The true voice of Knuckles. He is unbeatable and way too underrated. 2. Idris Elba - He restored Knuckles back to his old roots and sounded incredible in the Sonic Movie 2. 3. Michael McGaharn - A pretty decent start to Knuckles character, he carried him fairly well and is underrated, but his final voice sounded somewhat emotionless, but his E3 voice was BADASS. 4. Travis Willingham - Meh…he literally sounds like Dan Green except more relaxed. I’ll say he did better especially since he improved in Forces, but Dave B. Mitchell as done a way better job after Frontiers. 5. Dan Green - I find Dan Green to be extremely overrated. I HATED him as Knuckles. I cannot find myself enjoying his Knuckles at all, since he annoys the crap out of me. He also turned Knuckles into a joke even if he’s back to his old roots. You’re joking if you say he fits Knuckles. I don’t recognize him as Knuckles at all. Dan Green as Knuckles is a joke.
I don’t get it, how can Dan top Scott? Just because he fits, and simple as that? To me, he doesn’t fit. Scott perfected the role, but then Dan did something completely different from the original basis of what Scott left off with no similarities at all. I don’t get how does Dan top Scott. Scott should be No. 1, Dan can never compare to him. Also, it surprises me that you say Idris sometimes doesn’t fit Knuckles, yet you rank Keanu Reeves in 1st place as Shadow without hearing that much from him, he might fit for Movie Shadow so far but we haven’t heard enough of him to determine if he’d be capable of voicing in the games as well (like Ben Schwartz, since Ben sounds like he could voice in the games with the right direction imo.)
honestly scott dreier is my favourite out of the english VA's. i never really liked knuckles being characterized as a dumb jock thats always trying to one-up sonic in the newer media, i liked when he was more chill and sometimes even caring, but just had a really bad temper. scott drier fits that personality perfectly. his voice is so smooth, and he does a good job of showing knuckles' anger. his voice--especially in heroes--really brings out that toughness knuckles has without making it sound forced like some of his future voice actors. it's really a shame that he didn't appear in more games.
1. Dan Green 2. Idris Elba 3. Bill Wise 4. Nobutoshi Canna 5. Dave B. Mitchell 6. Fred Tatasciore 7. Travis Willingham 8. Yasunori Matsumoto 9. Brian Drummond 10. Adam Nurada 11. Ryan Drummond 12. Subaru Kimura 13. Scott Dreier 14. Michael McGraharn
Disagreed with this entire ranking. Michael McGaharn is good and Scott is the true Knuckles. They don’t deserve to be put at the bottom. Dan Green should be at the bottom as he turned Knuckles into an idiot and yet he is praised to high heavens. You have no taste in voice actors at all.
1: Idris Elba 2: Dan Green 3: Travis Willingham 4: Adam Nurada 5: Nobutoshi Canna 6: Dave B Mitchell 7: Subaru Kimura 8: Fred Tatasciore 9: Scott Dreier 10: Brian Drummond 11: Michael McGraharn 12: Ryan Drummond 13: Yasunori Matsumoto 14: Bill Wise
1. Scott Dreier 2. Idris Elba 3. Michael McGaharn 4. Ryan Drummond 5. Dave B. Mitchell 6. Adam Nurada 7. Travis Willingham 8. Dan Green - Worst Knuckles voice I’ve ever heard and I say good riddance to him. You are joking if you think Dan Green is the second best and that Scott Dreier was mediocre as Knuckles. Scott is the true Knuckles. Dan Green is a joke and the worst thing to come out of the 4Kids cast besides Kathleen Delaney.
Happy Birthday Dan Green. Your awesome. UR a true legend, man. I love Pokemon Diamond & Pearl, Black & White, XY, Sun & Moon, Journeys The Series, 3 Spell of the Unown, 4 4Ever, 7 Destiny Deoxys, 12 Arceus and the Jewel of Life, 22 Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution, Sonic X, Sonic Unleashed, Winx Club, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Yu-Gi-Oh, Dinosaur King and Kirby Right Back At Ya. Pokemon is the best anime. Winx Club is romantic...! Sonic X is super awesome, love the action. I respect u Dan. May the Peace be with u Knuckles the Echidna, Yugi Muto, Sky, Treecko, Damos, and Professor Birch. From Harlingen Texas. February 7, 1975 February 7, 2023 through February 7, 3023
1) Nobutoshi Canan 2) Yasunori Matsumoto 3) Scott Dreier 4) Dan Green 5) Travis Willingham 6) Ryan Drummond 7) Michael McGraharn 8) Dave B Mitchell 9) Idris Elba 10) Fred Tatsciore 11) Adam Nurada 12) Subaru Kimura 13) Brian Drummond 14) Bill Wise
*Classic Knuckles* Brian Drummond. *Modern Knuckles* Michael MeGraharn, Scott Dreier, Adan Nurada, Dan Green and Travis Willingham. *Movie Knuckles* Idris Elba and Fred Tatasciore.
No way, Bill and Brian slayed the role, because unlike the others they didn't go for the generic, deep voiced growling though guy, but actually being age appropriate!
@@erikbihari3625the only ones who sounded like a generic beefcake are Dan Green (cannot stand him at all) and Travis Willingham. Scott Dreier sounds anything but a generic beefcake lol. I betcha you’re one of those Classic Era fanbrats who wish the transition to the Modern Era never happened.
Idris Elba is the best one, by far. People might call that opinion celebrity bootlicking, it's not, he genuinely delivers an amazing performance for the character
Idris Elba just works for Knuckles. Especially his movie counterpart. I knew he would be a good VA for the character the moment I discovered he was being casted
@@that-one-dude23way better than Dan Green lol. At least Idris Elba gave him an actual deep voice that made him sound stern and serious, while not being annoying and being able to be taken seriously. His voice doesn’t sound too old, it fits for Movie Knuckles perfectly, and he delivers a stunning performance. Meanwhile Dan Green is the opposite; his voice is too high-pitched, when Knuckles’s voice should not sound that high compared to the others that came before him who provided deeper and mellow voices like Scott Dreier did, and he only knew how to overdo it on shouting and it came off as ear-grating and it even gave me a headache at one point, and I can’t take him seriously at all, since he doesn’t sound stern and disciplined and he sounds like a generic barbarian. The deeper pitch suits Knuckles more considering he’s a guardian, which is why Idris works way better. Also Dan is the one who sounded too old, I think you should go back and watch Sonic X and you’ll see I’m right lol.
Este sería mi ranking: 1. Nobutoshi Canna 2. Idris Elba 3. Dan Green 4. Scott Drier 5. Dave B Mitchell 6. Fred Tatasciore 7. Travis Willingham 8. Yasunari Matsumoto 9. Adam Nurada 10. Ryan Drummond 11. Michael McGraham 12. Subaru Kimuna 13. Bill Wise 14. Brian Drummond
My favorite Knuckles voices: 1. Dan Green 2. Scott Dreier 3. Idris Elba 4. Travis Wellingham I like how we’re finally moving from Knuckles being a complete meathead and playing into him being more naive, but still clever and a warrior. I hope they stick with it!
1. Scott Dreier 2. Michael McGraharn 3. Bill Wise (As Classic Knuckles) 4. Idris Elba & Fred Tatasciotre 5. Ryan Drummond 6. Adam Nurada 7. Travis Willingham 8. Dave B. Mitchell 9. Dan Green
@@erikbihari3625 I'm not kidding at all. This knuckles actually sounds like the tough and gritty Knuckles we got to know today. Every Knuckles before that sounds like some random generic guy you'd see while passing the street who would be like: "Hi, how are ya? Wonderful weather we're having." Like those generic 50-80s dads who have a nice house and nice car and nice lawn. ESPECIALLY - (I'm gonna say it, brace yourself.) IN SONIC ADVENTURE. That's probably the worst voice for him it just sounds so dull and uninspired. At least Dan put some spunk in it.
@@deoxysoverlord8710. If you consider bitching,"spunk"then yes.🙄😒😑 However, allow me to break down, the issues with this line of thinking:-"knuckles is sopposed to be a teenager, but almost every actor who ever played him, failed to reflect that, coming across as an adult hanging out with children, and in X specifically, when he constantly falls for eggman's lies, can you blame people for coming to the conclusion that he's an idiot"? If he's voice sounded close to Sonic than Bane from day one, nőne of the things that derailed his characterisation and portrayal would've transpired!
@@erikbihari3625 Take Sonic X for example. Which is what I consider to be the best cast of voices, and the definitive voice for the characters no matter what anyone says. Knuckles sounds tough and has a district voice that sets him apart for everyone else, since everyone has a distinct voice. Eggman is nasty and gravely and a bit old, Sonic is high pitched and cocky and teenager-y, Amy is like a little girl and is a little whiny but can be badass when she needs to be, Cream is another little girl but younger and sweet, Tails is a young and happy little kid, Rouge is cunning and cocky as well, etc etc. I understand your argument that Knuckles is supposed to sound like a teen. Trust me I really do. But these days teenagers in fiction don't even sound or LOOK like teenagers. Sometimes it even happens in real life! But basically that take on Knuckles is better than the generic: "Hi how are ya." Guy I described in the other reply. I understand and respect your opinion, and I hope you can respect mine. Knuckles is a strong and tough brute force kind of guy, and his voice reflects that. Even if he can be a little stupid at times, he's still extremely tough and he sounds like it.
@@deoxysoverlord8710. That's the problem. When your a fan of something, that sometimes makes you blind to it's shortcomings and how things may come off to an outsider(and general common sense), and like I said beforehand, if knuckles keeps sounding like That, he'll never be able to shake off the moniker and reputation of himself being anything more than a"knucklehead! I'm all for people having an oppinion, but when the thing their advocating for actively makes something worse, then those ideas be best, discarded, don't you think? For Example, people keep saying that Amy's crush on Sonic should be downplayed more thus she becomes a better character in the long run, but in actuality all This does is make her MORE DISPOSABLE, like a piece of garnish, wich is only there to make your meal look prettier, not to actually contribute to it tasting good, like an active ingrediant!
Who would have thought that Idris Elba would be the best Knuckles?! His Knuckles sounds a trained soldier so focus on duty that he might lack awareness on social cues. Might be because of Elba role in Pacific Rim. It just works.
No offense to anyone, but tbh Scott Dreier kinda edges out Michael McGaharn. Michael was a pretty decent start for Knuckles, but in the final version of Sonic Adventure he practically sounds nearly emotionless. His E3 version is a lot more emotional and dare I say edgy and closer to Scott Dreier.
Personally going with english o.v.a. and underground, for the simple fact that, they made knuckles sound like, an actual teenager. Almost every other english version sounds old enough to be his dad!
I'm torn between Scott and Dan. On one hand, Scott really brings out Knux's 2 main character traits: chill and responsible. But Dan sounds like has an easier time with emoting
My personal Knuckles voice actors ranking: 1- Scott Dreier 2- Ryan Drummond 3- Idris Elba 4- Adam Nurada 5- Dave B Mitchell (he improved in Frontiers) 6- Fred Tatasciore 7- Michael McGraharn (unused deeper voice) 8- Travis Willingham 9- Dan Green 10- Sabaru Kimura 11- Yasunori Matsumoto 12- Nobutoshi Canna 13- Michael McGraharn (final voice) 14- Bill Wise 15- Brian Drummond (no relation to Ryan)
Classic Knuckles: Bill Wise, Brian Drummond, and Michael McGaharn (final voice only) Modern Knuckles: Scott Dreier and Dave B. Mitchell (and maybe Ryan Drummond too) Multi-Media Knuckles: Idris Elba and Adam Nurada
Funny thing, I've listened to Dave B. Mitchell as Dyne from FF7 Rebirth, and his voice sounds closer to Dan Green's Knuckles than Dave B. Mitchell's Knuckles!
Scott as Classic Knuckles?! Ha! Brian Drummond and Michael McGaharn can be Classic Knuckles, but Scott Dreier is Modern Knuckles for sure. Dan Green is a joke.
@@JustAnAverageSonicFan Dude, Dan Green kills it as a Modern Knuckles. I guess Ryan Drummond can kill it as a Classic Knuckles, but so can Scott Dreier!
Idk if this is a hot take but I don't like Idris Elba's iteration too much, I think if Jason Mamoa didn't pass on the role I would've preferred his voice much more and I think it would've been in line with some of the other voice actors on this list
Yall realize that Ryan Drummond voiced sonics in adventure 1 and 2 but voiced knuckles he said okay to voicing knuckles but in secret soo sonic was voiced by Drummond and knuckles was voiced by Ryan sega knew after the game released
Travis Willingham is the best one since he the one i heard from my childhood. The others are good. Scott Dreier and Dan Green is a good voice actor too. Dave is great in Frontier. Idris Elba is the best one too for sonic movie
How about his english voices? Because I can't believe that fans are ok with all these abysmal choices! Ever since Sonic X he sounds old enough to be sonic's dad.🤦
@@erikbihari3625 I mean, I'd say Vincent Tongs Renegade Knucks voice in Prime is probably closest to the Japanese voice, not really sure who's my favorite voice but they all have good and bad qualities in my opinion, the normal knuckles voice (Adam Nurada) in Prime is TOO deep though and doesnt sound natural at all.
@@bluekel615. Knuckles had a long standing problem with this, as you seen. When it'd been benificial if they empashized his age rather than thoughness!
@@erikbihari3625 Yeah, I can see that. Personally so far in my opinion I think his current voice in Frontiers and TSR also does a pretty good job at somehow sounding both younger and tougher at the same time but thats just me, same with the ones I already mentioned. By me saying they all have good and bad qualities, I'm saying most of them had good delivery. Sure, Idris Elba was really deep, but most of his delivery was amazing, Adam Nurada doesn't have a good delivery OR a good voice in my opinion, hopefully by Season 2/Season 1 Batch 2/Whatever you want to call it he gets better at at least the delivery, cause he just sounds like he's doing a generic overly deep voice impression. Just saying, if your opinion differs from mine slightly, thats fine, I respect your opinions. Honestly, Brooklyn accent Knuckles sounding closer to the Japanese voice is the best thing I've ever seen in the Sonic franchise in a long time.
@@bluekel615. I personally don't care if knuckles sounds though enough for insecure weenies, who think Shadow the hedgehog is a good game because it's edgy, just that he's age, appropriate. Because it's quite obvious the reason he got derailed so hard, wasn't just the writing's fault, but he's voice as well! For example, have you noticed that in the penultimate episode of the Sonic Boom cartoon, he referenced that"Shadow Boxing"quote from X's metarex saga(aka it's third season)? Honestly, Prime was a nice surprise, not only there are references to underground of all places as well(like sonic's eye shape and size, and thorn rose being a dead ringer for sonia), but knuckles alternate versions sound a lot better, and spindashing on screen besides the games(regular one only did in underground)! Heck, even the small stuff, like using actual rock music in the soundtrack, are welcomed additions. Have you noticed that Canada for some bizare reason, works out for Sonic so often? Underground has Best knuckles writing, characterisation and voice acting wise, the first movie was filmed in vancouver(Amy's voice actress in Prime was a waitress in the first movie),but now This! And coincidentally, Sonic is once again voiced by p.o.c. like back in adventures til Underground!
Any favourites?(please for the love of chaos pick the young sounding ones, otherwise knuckles never gonna crawl out of the didtch Sega and fans driver him into!)
My rankings of Knuckles actors from best to worst: Dan Green Scott Dreier Michael McGraharn Ryan Drummond Idris Elba Fred Tatasciore Travis Willingham Dave B Mitchell Brian Drummond Bill Wise Adam Nurada
What it should be: Scott Dreier Idris Elba Fred Tatasciore Dave B. Mitchell Adam Nurada Vincent Tong Travis Willingham Michael McGaharn Ryan Drummond Bill Wise Brian Drummond Dan Green
Game apologist:-"Prime knuckles, just like the current in game version, sounds like he's trying too hard to sound though, completely fake, and takes me out"!
Tbh, Travis’s peak Knuckles performance was in Sonic Forces, his performance there definitely stood out from the rest of his other performances and really showed his proven potential as the voice of Knuckles.
Nobutoshi Canna. The most savage of them all. Travis Willngham and Dan Green are runner ups, both very solid performances. Scott Dreier is good if a bit on the bland side. Idris Elba is surprisingly decent for what he got to work with. The rest range from okay to not.
I'm going with Drummond, for the simple reason, that he's knuckles actually sounds like a teenager. While almost everyone else, feels old enough to be sonic's dad/stupid!
1. Scott Dreier (The TRUE Knuckles!) 2. Idris Elba 3. Fred Tatasciore 4. Dave B. Mitchell (he improved in Sonic Frontiers.) 5. Adam Nurada 6. Vincent Tong 7. Travis Willingham (He improved in Sonic Forces.) 8. Michael McGaharn 9. Ryan Drummond 10. Bill Wise 11. Brian Drummond (No relation to Ryan Drummond.) 12. Dan Green
Oh, and all you Dan Green f•gs out there raging over the fact that I put Dan last can k••s my •••. He didn’t get close to how Knuckles sounds and he was annoying asf.
I think Dan Green and Travis Willingham fits knuckles bad ass personality. And please, I don’t want to hear Scott and Michael is way better. Because I think dan and travis fits better
Seriously? You have to be neglectful to all the better actors for each character? First you neglect Lani Minella for both Rouge and Omochao and you neglected the other actors for some other characters? Now you’re neglecting Scott and Michael? Dan doesn’t fit Knuckles at all, it’s literally his Yami Yugi voice being re-used on Knuckles’s and Travis only fit him in Forces. Michael laid the foundations for what Knuckles should sound like and Scott perfected the role. Who do you think you are?
Micheal and Scott are better. 😏 Okay, to be real, I’ll say that Travis is better than Micheal, since Travis was quite great in Sonic Forces, while Micheal only had one game that had terrible voice direction, but Scott is better than Travis.
Love Michael McGarahan, Scott Drier and Dan Green the most. Travis' portrayal is far too whiny and irritating for me, as well as poorly written. Idris is just meh tbh. Indifferent to the rest.
Agree with Michael McGaharn and Scott Dreier. They’re awesome. Ryan Drummond too, even if he was just impersonating Michael for one side game. But I disagree with Dan Green. He just sounds annoying. Idris Elba did great and restored Knuckles’s character from the Adventure games and got him back to his old self.
Okay, I’ll say I agree with Scott Dreier and Michael McGaharn being the best, but Dan too, Travis was bad, and Idris is meh? No. First of all, Dan Green was atrocious at the role. You say Travis Willingham was irritating and whiny, when Dan Green was way more irritating, especially in Sonic X. Second, Travis Willingham was better than Dan Green. He was a discount Dan Green when he started but as time went on, he improved a bit, and in Forces, Travis was amazing due to the voice direction. Travis sounds more relaxed compared to Dan, which fits Knuckles’s growing character more. And lastly, Idris Elba was amazing, he wasn’t meh at all. He restored Knuckles’s true character. I do find him really slightly overrated since people have been forgetting about Scott Dreier in favor of Idris Elba when nobody is better than Scott Dreier (and that’s a FACT) but other than that, Idris’s performance was beyond stunning to me.
