Video Excerpt from a Bane-Clene® Spot & Stain Removal Training Class by Bane-Clene’s Chemist, Don Terry, for Professional Carpet Cleaners Showing How to Remove Permanent Marker & Hi-Liter from Carpet or Rug.
-----------------------------------------------------
A marker stain on carpet or upholstery is usually from a creative, artistic child practicing his or her talents or simply from dropping a marker with the cap off onto the floor or sofa.
The key to removing a Sharpie® or Permanent Marker ink stain is to begin the process as soon as possible. The newer the mark, the easier it is to treat.
Of course, Permanent marker stain is really difficult stain to remove, because it’s supposed to be PERMANENT!
-----------------------------------------------------
Steps to Remove Permanent Marker such as from a Sharpie from Carpet or Upholstery:
1. Apply Pro-Solve Gel to ink deposit.
2. Agitate gently but thoroughly until deposit is dissolved.
3. Apply Power Gel to deposit and agitate.
4. Thoroughly hot water extraction rinse.
5. If some of the stain remains:
6. Apply Stain Magic®.
7. Cover with damp towel.
8. Heat with steam iron for 15 seconds (very risky - may bleach out carpet dye).
9. Repeat if needed.
10. To prevent wicking, heavily sprinkle Stain Blotter absorbent powder on area to absorb any material that wicks up.
11. The customer can vacuum up the Stain Blotter the next day.
-----------------------------------------------------
Steps to Remove Hi-Liter from Carpet:
1. Apply Pro-Solve Gel to ink deposit.
2. Agitate gently but thoroughly until deposit is dissolved.
3. Apply Power Gel to deposit and agitate.
4. Thoroughly hot water extraction rinse.
5. If the stain is YELLOW or GREEN, apply Red Relief® Part “A” only and agitate gently. Stain should disappear within 15 minutes.
6. If stain is BLUE or RED, apply Stain Magic® and agitate gently.
7. Stain should disappear within 15 minutes.
8. Extract thoroughly and dry.
9. Tip: Stain will disappear in 1 to 8 hours depending on severity. To speed stain removal, use the Pro's Choice DCI Light with the Chemical Activation Bulb (Stain Magic Energizer Light).
10. To prevent wicking, heavily sprinkle Stain Blotter on area to absorb any material that wicks up.
11. The customer can vacuum up the Stain Blotter the next day.
