Internet ruined everything they should make it so you can't even look at the internet and tell your 18 at least give kids a childhood not have them connected to the world and you know have them just have a real childhood rather than just living on their phones and being little drones addicted to phones and being phony on social media.

Life was so much better in the 80's and 90's.
@Theshark15z
@Theshark15z 8 лет назад
+SamGuthrie1977 Times were simpler. No Social Networks, no Smart-phones, no youtube. I remember, most guys, who were teens, back then were all about sneaking off to parties, Concerts, and midnight showings at the the Cinemark or making out with their first girl in the back seat. Us kids were more of SNES, SEGA, Card Trading, Comic book reading, Pog Playing and marble shooting fanatics. Now a days most adolescences are about underage drinking, pre-Merrill sex, tagging, "The Knockout Game". Yes their was things like that, but the ratio was way lower.
@SamGuthrie1977
@SamGuthrie1977 8 лет назад
+Theshark15z Totally agree. I know things were far from perfect back then. I try to be objective, and I realize I'm a bit nostalgic concerning my formative years. That said, pop culture still seemed much more fun, optimistic, and light hearted back then. TV, movies, comic books, video games... it all had a more positive, fun, and overall decent vibe. Today, things are too cynical, pessimistic, and depressing.
@acompton3561
@acompton3561 8 лет назад
+Theshark15z +SamGuthrie1977 , “I try to be objective”, “Life was so much better in the 80’s and 90’s”; so I’m going to take an educated guess and say you’re a middle to upper class white male born and raised in America. Because if you’re anything other, then you would know that life has improved for everyone else immensely since then. Things are more depressing now because you are now grown up; you actually take in what is reported on the news rather than it being something that blares on in the background competing for the attention of the grownups around you. (And I’m sure you were a child genius who started watching the news and could discuss global politics/economics at a very young age, who doesn’t think back on themselves like that?) You comprehend what cold war means not to just the GI Joes and Cobra world, but to everyone’s world, everyone economy, those who depend on global trade. Some things that have improved: Some illnesses are no longer a death sentence, racism has been toned down to the point that when a cop of one color beats on someone of another - it gets recorded and broadcast. “Attention: we have a colored man in the oval office.” And no he’s not smoking crack like your 'stuck in the 80’s' mind would have you believe (call out to New Jack City fans). Despite having an economic recession, we are not in an economic depression. And to “Theshark”, I think you’re confusing kids with teens; you say teens were more concerned about parties and sneaking out, while kids were about video games and comic books. Then you generalize both age groups as “adolescences” (*adolescents), saying in the present, both groups are into underage drinking, sex, and the choking game. Sure “adolescents” is generally ages 13-19, but let’s be honest the priorities you had at 13 sure as hell aren’t the same when you’re 19. At 13: Newest transformer toy. At 19: Newest set of tits that walk by or if you’re the college type, newest set of Steven Levitt books (call out to economic majors). Or maybe you were playing with marbles at 19, if so, then yes the world might look like a scary place to you now. But it isn’t. No more than it was then. Oh and you’ve got too many spelling and grammar errors in just one paragraph, go back to the 90’s and focus on English class.
@Theshark15z
@Theshark15z 8 лет назад
Anthony Compton Their always has to be a troll to come in and just spread his self righteous ego. As far as my grammar, I'm not writing a college essay, it was just brief expression of my sole opinion. You judge without even knowing anything about me. Growing up, I was way different from most typical adolescents. I wasn't looking to go get laid and lose my virginity or view what you quote "Newest Set Of Tits" by the age of 19. As far as the news, I hardly have time to see it. The things mention in my first comment are based of what I have seen growing up, not from views from the media, movies, or social networks. Next time ask someone about themselves, instead being a judgmental prick.
@acompton3561
@acompton3561 8 лет назад
+Theshark15z ; *There, *a, -go, *ed, *on, *of. I only mentioned news as something parents had on in the background; I wasn't speculating on whether or not you watched it; I don't care. Judgmental - not at all, like I said before: an educated guess. You don't get mad at the contestants on Wheel of Fortune when they guess do you? "OMG, Wheel of Fortune, that show was so fire back then, am I right? Billy Joel? Anyone?

I was 7 years old in 2nd grade when this show was on air. I use to watch it every morning with my brother, and sister before school started at 8 am. I use to droll over all the NES games, wishing I could been on that show. I could of probably won too I was a video game wiz. Started playing my mom an dads an Atari 2600 at 3 years old, and got my NES/Mario 1 combo set on Christmas in 1990, with a copy of Mario 3, and the Legend of Zelda. My uncle was 15 years older and he gave us his copy of Mario 2 the same day. He lived at my grandmas house, and we would go there after school until my mom got off of work in the evenings, my dad worked afternoons. We would always play his games.

Honestly I find it really cringey to watch those commercials now. The undiluted consumerism being peddled to kids is kind of gross if you really think about it. But still, I do find it nostalgic also. Strangely enough, seeing some of those commercials triggers vague memories... I must have seen them on TV when I was growing up. Specifically I think I remember the ones for that air hockey puck and also the Batman Forever toys. God, even if it's just a faint memory, I hate to think that data is stored away in my brain somewhere, taking up space. Just imagine all the commercial jingles that someone invented to sell us crap, but we can still remember them even decades later.

i used to watch this early morning at 6am when I was a kid. I guess it was a reason to wake up to awesome tv shows for when we were kids.

When I was a kid, I thought that Johnny Arcade was a cool dude. My 41-year-old self now says, "My God, that guy is coked up."

This was awesome. So glad the big guy crushed it in the final challenge. Won that Turbo Graphics 16. I loved this show cuz you got to hear about other amazing game systems besides nintendo.

This is late 80s/Early 90s defined. Also I remember this show because they almost always gave away Neo Geos. lol

That seemed like such an exotic and expensive system to me at the time. That and the Jaguar and the TurboGrafx 16.

The commercials might be better than the show. Except the Sally Struthers one. I remember those as a kid being like "I'm 8, what the hell am I supposed to do?"

Or just buy some of that fine Sears chain-link fence to put up around your yard and keep all the poor people out. This was America in the 90s, ground zero for consumer culture! We were just kids hoping to see a little video game action before school. We didn't need any of those depressing commercials to kill our buzz. Instead, I just want to dream about what it would be like to get on that show and run through grabbing all the video games I can carry.

When they are doing the VELCRO® Grab a Game Run I can see this part upgraded for 2018 and the Winner just grabs like one small 32GB Flash Drive Velcro to the Wall and the Host Johnny Arcade would run up and say "OMG! You have just got EVERY GAME EVER MADE INCLUDING SYSTEMS! W2G!"
