I studied film and Spike is one of my favorite filmmakers. School Daze is still one of the dopest film ever made. History, Humour, Life on a HBCU, Social Commentary, Great Soundtrack and Beautiful Sisters!!
I loved School Daze from day one. I did not attend an HBCU but the university I attended the black students created a microcosm of an HBCU within the University. There were a ton of things that were just like what I experienced in college in the movie .
When people ask the question about the oldest HBCU,” said Cooper, “Lincoln University stands out because it was chartered in 1854 as a higher education institution. Cheyney can say that they existed for a longer period of time, BUT NOT AS A UNIVERSITY. They were created in 1837, but they didn’t award college degrees until 1914.” That's an Important Difference
She Gotta Have it was Spike Lee’s first movie. School Daze was Spike Lee’s second movie. Do The Right Thing was Spike Lee’s third movie. No Better Blues was Spike Lee’s fourth movie. Jungle Fever was Spike Lee’s fifth movie. Malcolm X was Spike Lee’s sixth movie. Crooklyn was Spike Lee’s seventh movie.
And WELL'WELL in just about 47:57 minutes of this evening powerful and "CLASSIC INTERVIEW" in my opinion I'm just saying thank you for your powerful commentary and point of view is indeed "FOOD FOR THOUGHT" and truth be told the truth . (This interview is/was uploaded on February 19,2018) But for me tonight is 2/22/2018 and my first time seeing this powerful interview I'm just saying "BLACK FIRST" (And today is/was for me February 22,2018)
brother Spike, please do an authentic historical movie or documentary on history of black people. Or ancient Egypt. a real movie about the Seminole Wars would be captivating.
Brother?! You might want to research that. It's sad that some black people won't educate themselves. A simple Google would have prevented you from making an incorrect statement. In the crazy thing is you stated that you wish people would stop saying that it was the first black college. How long have you been ignorant to this public information?
@@TheCirefreecire Brother?! I might want to what? research the school I attended? I don't need Google to research what I've known for decades, may I please ask that you do as suggested? For the record I've never been ignorant to the actual facts or public information be easy with the ignorant commentary please. Lets also consider the fact that Lincoln University stands out because IT WAS CHARTERED in 1854 as a HIGHER EDUCATION DEGREE GRANTING INSTITUTION and while Cheyney can say that they existed for a longer period of time, but IT WAS NOT as a university. They were created in 1837, but only as a secondary school. They didn’t begin to award any college degrees until 1914 the same year it changed its name to Cheyney. I'm not here to bicker nor insult anyone. I knew my history before Google ever existed. With that being said. Take care.
@@JayeBoogie10172nd Lincoln 1854, 1st Cheyney 1837. Apparently you were sleeping in all your classes. Guess you never learnt the meaning of numerical order. 😂😂😂😂
@@TheCirefreecire You poor thing....Lincoln began their degree program in 1854 Cheney didn't hand out a single college degree until 1914 So yeah you are right, you may not truly know the meaning of numerical order In any event you can believe what you wish. I posted my point a year ago, and I stand by my statements. ✌🏿
I am just finding out that all these black fraternities represent “THE BLACK BOULE”. People do your research. I always thought so much hire of Spike Lee. It’s quite shocking..
so is there no fratenity that is associated in this sect??? However, still think highly of him. He was one of the guys whose work I was exposed to, that represented Black (especially the US) in its entirety. He even exposes the scope of what is going on.
