Renovated in the summer of 2011, Chaffee Hall is located adjacent to Marina Dining Hall and is only a few steps away from Seaside Park. Chaffee Hall is a traditional co-ed style residence hall that houses approximately 150 students. The first floor offers a common area lounge space, pool table, laundry facilities for the residence hall, and a kitchenette area. The upper floors also include common area lounge spaces.
Chaffee Hall’s staff consists of 8 Resident Assistants (RA) who are supervised by Graduate Hall Director (GHD), who also provides oversight for Chaffee’s sister building - Cooper Hall. The staff’s goal is to integrate both an academic and residential approach to the hall community as well as assist the residents in their educational, social, cultural, and personal growth. The staff is to be used as a resource in a collaborative approach with residents to assist with the challenges of their new surroundings as well as to create a positive and academically-centered community atmosphere. Residents of Chaffee Hall are expected to contribute and respect others in the hall community.
Chaffee Hall offers standard double rooms with a limited number of single rooms. Each room includes connections for cable and hi-speed Internet (students must bring their own cable cord and Ethernet cable). Additionally, each room is equipped with a micro-fridge unit (combination fridge/freeze/microwave) for shared use by the students in the room and all rooms are air conditioned. Knowing that fire safety is an important concern, all residence halls are equipped with smoke detectors with voice evacuation systems.
