www.lakewaleschamber.com www.LegacyStudio.US Take a video tour of the "Crown Jewel of the Ridge," Lake Wales, Florida. Produced by Legacy Studio for the Lake Wales Area Chamber of Commerce.
Really enjoyed the tour. I was raised in Babson Park and graduated from Lake Wales High in 1938. There are still many buildings and points of interest that are familiar to me. Always loved the peace and quiet of the Mountain Lake Sanctuary... my mother was in the choral group that sang at the dedication of the Bok Tower and I was there too... a rather disinterested youngster. I think our '38 graduation class was one of, if not the last to be allowed to go up and actually ring the bells.
Well done video on the town and surrounding area. I was born in Lake Wales, my great grandfather was one of the founding fathers. I moved to Vero Beach at age nine but kept returning to visit relatives until 2006. I have lived in the midwest for 19 long years and can't imagine how people exist being stuck inside for six months of the year! I am so glad my childhood was spent in sunny Florida!
In 1988 I lived in Lake Wales and worked for WIPC radio. We did a live broadcast from Mr. Bok's private Library. Something I'll NEVER forget. We were broadcasting a performance of the carillon bells. I live a very enjoyable two years in Lake Wales, a great place to live!
