These are not the best however they are very cheap for what you get but - beware though there are some drawbacks. I managed to start to strip the finish on a pair that I was cleaning, the leather appears to be sprayed not deep dyed, care essential if stripping any polish for re-finishing. I had to dye the affected area on both shoes with a contrasting dark brown dye, happily with good results. Not what you really want though. Second problem using them in the wet caused part of the toe cap to swell around the area of the welt, I assume not properly waterproofed. I managed to mitigate the problem to a certain degree with the handle of a spoon, a bit of brute force and a bucket of leather treatment. Whether the problem is cured long term I will only know next time I go for a walk in the rain. Would I buy another pair? Probably but they would be heavily treated with every protecting potion I can find before going out in them and any further problems would mean that would be that. To be honest, for me, a used pair of quality shoes such as Loake, Jones or Barker would probably be a better buy if you can find some at the right price and in decent condition.
The quality is a bit hit and miss, the dye can be a bit patchy best are the Prestige Range with the Dainite Soles. recently bought some nearly new Prestige brogues with Dainite soles with very little use for £7.50 off Ebay ... result
Yes, these things are what they are, if I had not taken them out in the rain I might have been happier but as it is the swelling problem has got much worse since my original post and covers much of the toe cap and has also spread slightly into the sides. The water must be getting in at the welt and leaching into the leather from down there. Not good. On the bright side the soles are wearing well but I won't be repairing them when they finally give in and I really can't imagine buying any more, not when there are bargains to be had elsewhere.

They are NOT sold as made in UK , They market the shoes using traditional English designs, If you visit the Samuel Windsor website they openly stipulate the shoes are made in India
@@daleykun - But pay 4 - 5 times the price if you want new ... for what you pay with these SW they are a good shoe, here in the UK £35 - £45 would normally buy you some injection moulded shoes from a supermarket or even more at a men's clothing store. Look at Clarks shoes ... a majority have man made soles using poor construction methods and people will happily pay £100 plus. a majority of there shoes are also made in India
these shoes cost 10 bucks at least, shipping to the west and then sell here for 120 up to 200 bucks... poor indian slavery workers... they shouldnt export theses shoes, they should sell them for 20 bucks to their indian people and the west shoe manufactories should start making shoes for their people! Thomas Oeler you are wrong.. manufacturing cost on these pair is more than 30 dollars . and they are not just exported .they are sold within country too. the price ranges between 55-90 dollars.

My feet hurt from watching this crap. This type of manufacturing is killing the good traditional craftsmanship and will destroy the whole industry. This is poison to the healthy market of goodyear welted leather shoes and shouldn't be allowed to enter the border in bulk. If someone is insisted in ordering these crappy things then they should buy them online and deal with customs charges.BAD POLICY allowing this into our market!!!
