Tumbling blocks is a 3D pattern that is very quick and easy to make using a 60 degree ruler or a normal ruler that has a 60 degree marking. It was developed by Marci Baker. Details on my blog.

I made my first quilt using your video!!!!! It turned out fabulous!!!! I am a novice quilter, and I purchased the Marci Baker corner cut tool which helped me to align the pieces flawlessly. I wish I could post a picture of my quilt here. I love your tutorials and am working on my second quilt using your methods!!!!!

I did this pattern using 5-inch strips (5-1/4 for the middle strip). There was a lot of waste from cutting off the ends. I found that if I stagger or stair-step the strips when I sewed them together I could get one more piece out of each row. That way I got 12 pieces instead of 11. Twelve is what I needed for each length top to bottom. Lay your triangle on the unsewn strips to determine how much to stagger them.

I have 3 baby quilts for a 2.5 yo and 2 little people creeping up on 1 faster than can be!😜. I’ve seen, and loved, all of your videos but have also always been frustrated by their speed. And then I learned about the magic of the 3 dots and I slowed the speed to 25 %. Presto zesto: now I have all the notes I need and am headed downstairs tomorrow morning to choose fabrics and get to work. I’m going to make the strips 4 and 3.25 inches so the blocks are bigger and I’ll finish more quickly. Ich danke Ihnen.

Thank you for the wonderful videos. I was wondering how do you finish the top on this one? If I cut 3 inch strips and them cut them just as I did the dark and medium (red and yellow) and then cut them in half length-wise would that fill in the gap? I am thinking it will. I am going try that today so that I can finish my quilt top. Once again thank you for your wonderful videos. I plan on using a few more of them to make some gifts for family and friends.

@teresadownunder
@teresadownunder 7 лет назад
+collette wilson I haven't made a full quilt yet but I would just make a large rectangle and trim off excess around. That may waste a bit of fabric depending on the size of the quilt. Alternatively you could cut individual pieces to fill in the gaps at the edges. Good luck with it. I'd love to see a picture when you finish the quilt 😊

Thanks very much for the video! Thought I was doing really well until I realised that I had started to cut the strips in the opposite directions to you ie my red equivalent are going the way of your yellow and vice versa. Do you think this will be a problem as I can redo the strips I have cut if necessary as I have extra fabric? It basically means my dark ones will be where your medium are etc.

I'm not 'thumbing' this one b/c it doesn't deserve either. The video was SO Fast till it makes your head spin. How can you learn anything watching something like this? Go watch Marci Baker, she explains Everything in detail at a Normal paced video.....Give it up on these kind of video's Teresa!

There is a pause button. I paused the video while following along with this tutorial. I love that she doesn't waste my time with a lot of talk and simply shows us how it is done. I love that she gives us the measurements rather than telling us to go to her site and pay $10 for the pattern. I love your videos Teresa!!! Please keep them coming because not everyone shares Quilter Grany's opinion. I for one am thankful for the format that you use as I have other things to do then listen to someone go on and on.

+Laura Melvin Thank you Laura. I realise not everyone likes my style but that's not a reason to stop or change 😊 2 more videos coming this week!
