Badfinger archivist and historian Tom Brennan joins us to discuss the latest release of Pete Ham demos, “Gwent Gardens.” Tom helped to assemble the tracks for the new release, and 14 of the 18 songs were never issued by Badfinger. Several of the demos, in fact, date back to the late 60’s. Here Tom discusses these songs, and how he became involved with many of the most recent Badfinger and Pete Ham releases. Pete’s fans will revel in this new batch of demos, hearing these songs for the first time, which most definitely were strong enough for Badfinger albums!
Starting April 15, 2024, fans can win a CD copy of “Gwent Gardens” by entering Ken’s Beatles trivia contests on his website here: www.kenmichael...

A delightful conversation with Stephen Friedland (aka Brute Force) telling his full story about his musical career. In his early years, he was a member of The Tokens, and wrote songs for Peggy March, Del Shannon, the Chiffons and The Cyrkle. You’ll learn how he got a record deal with the Beatles’ Apple Records, and writing and recording his notorious song, “King Of Fuh.” Which members of the Beatles liked his song, and was there any hope that his recording career at Apple would go beyond his one single? Find out all this and more!

It always seemed to me the focus early on was on Tommy - Maybe Tomorrow, Rock of Ages, Carry On, Come and Get it… once No Matter What hit, the focus was all on Pete.

In "The Day Begins", the melody line where Pete sings "I wonder if I'm ever going home" at 1:06 is very similar Elton John singing "I Guess That's Why They Call It The Blues" in the song of the same title from 1983.

I never realized but yeah, there is a similarity there.
