Michelle understands that there's a lot of barriers for a lot of people - race, sexuality, socioeconomic status - but she recognizes that we are all a lot more alike than we are conditioned to think. We are human. She was nervous to come out, but when she did, her mother had a reaction that now gives her confidence to live fully as her true self.
