@Aleks Kevyn What are you even talking about? Panorama/hills: go on the Kahlenberg, the Leopoldsberg or the Gloriette of Schönbrunn and you get the most awsome panorama of Vienna. River: the Danube divides Vienna in two halves
Hey 😀 i live in Vienna in the 2 District :) you Need to Go to Kahlenberg this is a Hill where you can See Vienna Skyline and eat or Drink there something
Really like the intro. We leave for our trip today. Thanks for all the inspiration and amazing places. Hopefully the weather holds up till we make it there
when we went to vienna, there were so many mozart music 🎶 but we didn’t go due to time. We were shocked how big the city was and how english speaking friendly the people were. What an experience!👍🏻
It’s always special to to watch you two trekking to the next adventure, I would like to compliment your consistency and realism, Your smiles and free spirits. Keep Pushing, Be Safe, Belus Traveller
Ahh, you are in Austria! You absolutely must not miss my families home town of Salzburg and nearby Salzkammergut lake region. It will take your breath away.
I was in Vienna two weeks ago. I have to say it is my favorite city in Europe. There is so much to see and do, you need more than a week to experience it all.
Glad you had something to do on the Sunday... Anytime I have a Sunday in Germany / Austria, I try to make it a travel day (Not really a museum person)... Auf Wiedersehen... How quickly we forget, eh...?
Wow guys this is amazing. My internet best friend lives in Vienna I really wanna visit that country now. I love you guys . Thanks to you guys I know more about my best friends living place. I love you guys so much. I'm from Estonia. I remember when you guys were in Estonia. I love you!
Yeah Vienna is great. Guys I really enjoy your vids. Always watching them before flying to a certain destination you have been as well. I assume it is a lot of work, but sometimes I wonder whether it is possible to sort you playlist in an alphabetical order.
Stores are only closed on sundays. During the week the shops close around 8 and on saturdays at six. There are certain grocery stores that are open on sundays (trainstations, subway and district 1)
Wow, the architecture, amazing!! I must admit that I know next to nothing about Austria, but this quick glimpse of Vienna makes me want to know more. What a gorgeous city! What was the name of that coffee drink Josh was having at the coffeehouse? I love learning about different types of coffee prep. And those Viennese cakes looked divine! BTW, Ashley, you looked so cute in that hat! I never was a hat person, and I'm still not really, but some years ago I started wearing a hat when I know I am going to be in the sun for a while. It makes such a difference in my comfort level, and prevents my face from getting sunburned. I love a floppy-brimmed sun hat like you were wearing, it's such a cute look!
such a relaxing way to begin a Sunday...pretty music and lovely film work...and the origin of pumpkin seed oil...I can't wait...I am thinking of asking the Traveling Clatt (since he is a pal of yours) if he wants to help me open my upcoming box and share some pumpkin oil on ice cream...with port ! Spread the fun around!
Good Morningggggggggg!! I haven't been to Vienna in a LOOOOOONG time. I was going to go this year, but then decided on Italy instead. Next year I will definitely go again. Need my fix of a Wiener Kaffeehaus.
Third comment :') Welcome to Europe, everything is closed on Sunday in most countries (because most countries are mainly Catholic and Protestant and Sunday is the Holy Day)
2:34 The Austrian Empire was founded in 1804 and lasted til 1918 having 4 emperors. From 1866 onwards it was known as the Austro-Hungarian Empire. The Habsburg reigned over the HRI (Holy Roman Empire of German Nations) for additional 600y prior. 4:16 There r two horse statues on the square. Additional to Archduke Charles (u mentioned) there is Prince Eugene of Savoy on the opposite side. The first one defeated Napoleon at Aspern, the second one defeated the Turks repeatedly during the early 18th century. 4:46 True but those ruins are not parts of that camp! As at the time travelling from Rome took a long time, ppl were stationed for long periods. Therefore they were allowed to have their families with them. These ruins are the civilian ruins of the families, the fort (working place) was down the road. 5:07 The first mention of the Hofburg was in the late 13th century. The entrance ur showing got refurnished in 1558. 6:46 The Naschmarkt is the border between the 1st, 4th, 5th and 6th district. Ur literally walking on the border between the districts there. I would recommend to go there in the morning, the good stuff is gone after 12. 7:26 Thats a Styrian tradition to be precise - so u should look for STYRIAN pumpkin seed oil. I can definitly recommend it on almost everything as long as the quality is good.
Amazing video, you guys! You definitely did encourage me to get out there and travel today...and maybe visit Vienna! Ps, I loved the “tips” about what neighbourhoods might be good for Airbnbs etc. If I do go, ill definitely keep them in mind. Happy trails :)
Hey love the videos. Just had a question. What countries are the best that you have done a workaway in? And what cities would you recommend or not recommend doing a workaway in?
Hey there! Been following you guys since I started looking after travel tips for the Baltic Countries, and enjoy your videos and concept of leaving everything behind to travel the world very much. I'm from Austria, live in the northernmost part of Lower Austria (in the middle of Prag and Vienna), and I love to see people from abroad talking about my home country x) The more appropriate term for good bye in Vienna would actually be "Auf Wiederschaun!", have fun trying to get it viennese enough :D And another tip: The pumpkin seed oil (a bit more of a tongue twister: "Kürbiskernöl") is very versatile, e.g. try putting it on vanilla ice cream, you'll love it! Have a nice stay in the old monarchy!
Josh, did they add schnaps to your coffee, that you talked about the Viennese empire instead of Austrian Empire. 😂 Joke aside, great video! I love the shots of Stephansdom in the evening light. Glad to hear you enjoy your tour. I just have one tiny little comment: as a Slovenian, I have to correct you, pumpkin seed oil is not specialty just for Austria. It is also speciality in Slovenia. Actually, Styrian pumpkin seed oil (from both parts of Styria - Slovenian & Austrian ) received PDO (Protected Designation of Origin) status by the EU. 😉
Ash, you are sunshine on a cloudy..and sunny..day :) Can learning history about yet another wonderful place be more fun and exciting? Doubt it. Cool timelapse of you guys getting ready. Love that "UFO" bridge @ 0:36 And those windmills are massive!! Speaking of kings and queens... you two could be the king and queen of travel vloggers!!
Damn it! You two finally being in my hometown while I was exploring Izmir and Kapadokya! I thought about you at so many places I've visited in turkey. thanks to you I already knew where to go =D Glad you made it to beautiful Vienna. All the best to you guys!
Just leave it in sunlight. Pumpkin seed oil will "disintegrate" and fade under UV light (that's why it is sold in dark glass bottles). Also: don't use it to cook, only in cold dishes like salads or *after* cooking (e.g. a few sprinkles over scrambled eggs - divine!). Personal tip: try it with vanilla icecream (seriously).
It´s nice that you tried to give some historical background BUT they are not very accurate..Sorry.. The Habsburg family ruled the Holy Roman Empire for 600 years in a row from the 13th century till the 19th century (1805) which is outstanding because it was no heritage thing because the HRE - Emperors got elected by 7 distinct prince-electors who were distinct 3 bishops and 4 distinct noble-men...The HRE included today´s Germany, parts of today´s northern Poland, today´s Netherlands, half of Belgium, Luxemburg, south east France (former Burgundy), some parts of Switzerland, Slovenia, Northern Italy (=former Lombardian kingdom including Toscany) and the Czech Republic which was first a vassal kingdom of the HRE and the crown was then later inhereted by the Habsburgians... all in all whole central Europe...the Habsburgians also ruled simultanously the old Hungary but that wasn´t part of the HRE and that included Slowakia, parts of southern Poland, Croatia, parts of Serbia, parts of Bulgaria, small parts of southern Ukraine..all in all nearly whole eastern Europe..the HRE collapsed because of Napoleon..but he didn´t crash the Viennese city-walls by the way..that was done later at the end of the 19th century by the Austrian Emperor Franz Joseph II to combine the Inner city which was Vienna back then with the outskirts of the City to become one big city..and instead of the massive wall he let build the big avenue called Ring with all the magnificent buildings. And Archduke Karl the statue of the Heldenplatz was the - very first - who ever had beaten Napoleon in a battle and therefore destroyed Napoleon´s nimbus for being unbeatable... After the HRE collapsed the Habsburgians just ruled their own soil as described in the first paragraph including Northern Italy which then became the Austrian-Hungary Empire..and got parted from the former German soil which was politically taken over by the Prussians (a nearly 50 years long process)....the rivalry between Habsburg and Prussia was already huge since the 18th century started with Empress Maria Theresia against the prussian king Frederick(Friedrich) who challenged the empress because she was a woman and he declared war because of that and conquered Schlesien (area in Poland) which was Habsburg´s soil and was then taken over by the Prussians over night in 1742..So that rivalry started and went on till 1866 (Battle of Königgrätz and also the end of that round about 50 years lasting parting process of Austria and Germany after the collapse of the HRE) and in 1871 the Prussians founded their own German Empire ..
Beautiful city, magnificent building and rich history but it is not a charming town, it is always crowded, rude people everywhere, cigarette smokers everywhere, expensive, too dry hot or cold, Just a beautiful old country town and the food is not really that great, just fried plus fried and potatoes. Nice to know the history and beauty of the country but it does not fulfill me. I feel better or enjoy it more when I visit a greener , natural country or the Caribbean. Just my opinion.
