Vienna is one of Europe's most “Russian” cities. In the centre of the Austrian capital, almost every building contains at least one apartment that belongs to Russian citizens. Russian is constantly heard in the streets. Top Russian managers and politicians are familiar faces at five-star hotels. And while Russia commits one crime after another in Ukraine, its citizens enjoy life in Europe, slowly but surely taking over the Austrian capital with money from the Kremlin regime.
Looking at Vienna, you can see how important the European Union is to Russian elites.
Yet the Russian government, often with the tacit consent of these elites, and almost always with their support, has been discrediting the EU and civilised countries in general for years, purely because for more than twenty years it has been unable to create living conditions that are even remotely similar for the population of its resource-rich territory. Their tacit consent and support give all these people the right to earn vast sums of money and invest them outside Russia.
