Take a look at this video as I show my travel budget and cost of living expenses for Vietnam. There are so many RU-vid channels speaking of minimal amounts, but is that really possible? I hope you will find this video informative and helpful. Thank you for watching.
Check out the rest of my videos for helpful travel information as I travel throughout Vietnam and Southeast Asia.

Very helpful. Thank you. We are moving to DaNang in a few years to retire. It's nice to hear from someone who isn't a drinker/partier. 🙂

"What's it cost ?" is a popular question and video topic. I've been living and traveling SE Asia for many years based in Thailand so I speak from experience. Take your expenses and add at least 50% to it. Traveling with the stress of budgeting every dollar (or unexpected events etc) can turn a paradise into a living hell especially for new long term travelers/expats. I also enjoy VN and will spend August and September this year in Danang. P.S. Those are counterfeit Levi's. Most branded clothes there are. Original Levi's will cost much more than they do in the States. Nice video BTW.

Thank you for a very detailed and thoughtful budget video. What do you think a realistic budget would be for a couple (I suppose I could double the expenses less rent:)

Great video. I thjnk they're changing the visa to 90 days. Less visa runs.

Yes, I have been reading that as well. Hope to do a visa update video soon! Thank you for watching!

You can do same day visa runs and cut down on that expense.
@CJHealthyLife
@CJHealthyLife Год назад
Yes true, I know some people are doing same day runs, especially the border run to Cambodia. It could save a little money. I might try that soon. Thank you for watching!

Hi - If I remembering correctly is that visa are good for 90 days instead of 30 days? When you arrived at the custom they will ask how long will you be staying and if you're staying over 2 months they will stamp for a 90 days stay. After 90 days you can ask for extension which will give you another 90 days, after that you will need to do a visa run.

I am not sure what the procedure is now but when I did it, you had to decide 30 or 90 days upon application. If you have any information about it, I would be happy to hear.

Vietnam now has a 90 day e-visa. So the visa run amounts will be a lot cheaper. Makes things a lot easier.
@CJHealthyLife

Yes, I am currently here on a 90 day visa. That budget video is over six months old. I think so I should probably do an updated version. I appreciate you watching! Are you traveling now?

@@CJHealthyLife sorry, should have mentioned that it’s changed since the video. No, not travelling as of yet. Was in Hanoi last January and will be back in Vietnam in April 24. Beautiful country. Anyone on the fence about visiting, just do it.

Thanks for the breakdown, how long have you been in Vietnam? Consider for a one time $20 porting your us based cell phone number to google voice which is free, might just save you that $60/month.
@CJHealthyLife
@CJHealthyLife Год назад
Yes, thank you for that suggestion. I consider doing that, but honestly ran out of time being leaving and wasn't comfortable rushing to do it at the last minute. But I agree with you...long term I need to get that accomplished. Thanks for watching!

You're perplexed by how some people say you can live on less than USD$1,000 in Vietnam? I've seen a lot of these as well, but let's break it down. You're listing your total expenses as $1658 Take away all those back home expenses including the travel/health insurance. and you're down by $405. We're now at $1253 Take away $350 for visa runs because most people doing the visa runs will be going via land border to Laos for USD $30 if they're near Da Nang, or Cambodia (online E-visa also USD$30) if they're more southern, along with a bus ride that'll probably be around USD$30 return. Now we're at USD$903.

Thank you for your comment. Yes, I agree. It can be done cheaper, but this is just for frame of reference. For me, I like having life and health insurance. And I think it is good to factor in for some unforeseen circumstances. It is my experience that some expats come to a foreign country on very minimal funds thinking nothing will happen to them. I would rather budget a little high. However, I have met backpacker types here that probably live on 6-7 hundred a month...but they almost look like homeless people :(

You itemized walking???? Why not list "breathing" or "sleeping" = 0? Seriously LOL
@CJHealthyLife
@CJHealthyLife Год назад
Good question. The primary reason is because breathing and sleeping are not generally viewed as modes of transport. Thanks for watching 😊
