I got to actually meet Bri. Gen. R. Steve Ritchie at the Little Rock AFB Open House in October 1998, got an autograph and had my picture taken with him!
I saw this jet around the same time at a show somewhere in New Hampshire. I was 14. I still consider seeing Gen. Ritchie fly this jet one of the most historic aviation displays I've ever seen...or will ever see.
I saw two of the F-4 fly supersonic. They passed like gliders, then you could hear the rolling thunder. As soon as the sound was in front of you, Boom 💥 they did a second pass, but I covered my ears.I couldn’t take two sonic booms.

Is the intake ramp / air splitter the usual place to paint the kills ? Seems a bit of an odd place. On our Phantoms they were painted on the nose just forward of the pilots canopy, in a neat line. Never seen wheels up so early on a phantom.
@@bulldog282 IAF, not USAF. Sorry for not clarifying in the original post. Maintained F-4E's in the early '90s. All the IAF jets with kills I've seen, old and new, have them in the same location. From French jets in the '60s through to F-15s. Seeing them on the air ramp just seemed different and a bit odd as it's a functional part of the air intake, not the fusalage.
