I wouldn’t say she is upperclass. There are far more girls in families that are really upperclass. But Lea is very, very intelligent. She graduated Valedictorian in high school and was taking a pre-medicine undergraduate in university when the audition for Miss Saigon came along.
@@aspencolorado4751 Thank you! I'm almost finished and came to the credits to see if anyone was talking about the ridiculous fast vibrato everyone is using. I thought it was a Philipine preference, until they did the preview and the american actor playing the love interest had the same fast vibrato! Slowing it down now haha...
Wonderful players with ethnic diversity come & gathered together to perform a musical Broadway play. Enjoyed watching the making of Miss Saigon. Marvelous production!

This is when the world first learned about how AMAZING Filipina womens voices are thats why most if the Kims in major productions are filipina cause they SANGING
This video is a speeded up version of the documentary. However, even then, vibrato was a very essential element to professional singing. Some of them had unnatural fast pitch fluctuating voices but it worked for the time era. Singers like Edith Piaf had very rapid vibratos. Lea's here, was very even since it was produced by proper air pressure. Wobbly voices though, were existent too - like Operatic Music's Maria Callas. You've noticed something that is absolutely important - the evolution of singing. Back then, legato lines and vibrato were what's important and now, belts and high notes are taking the cake.
@@HelloWorld-ev9sg Well, it really is not fair to compare classically trained vocalists to the new stream of "belters". They have their own weaknesses and strengths regardless. What makes the crowds more drawn to belting nowadays is that sense of excitement that the sound typically carries, especially when it's done in an efficient fashion.
And a small Island of the Philippines answered their prayers and the rest is history. I immigrated in Boston 1993 and saw Miss Saigon banner on The Wang Center.
