Glad you made it home Myron. I was with A company 1st 46th Infantry of the 198th Light Infantry Brigade of the 23rd Infantry Division. Fortunately I was not down there in the flats,, I was in the Central Highlands 30 miles southwest of Danang.

The North Vietnamese had M16s. I met a young man in the mountains that had one and I took it from his cold dead hands.

Squad was caught sleeping. Those men on the quackers you didnt sleep. When you rely on those claymore mine's, you better have the correct crew on them. All down, you can't stop the 60, that man keeps firing. But glad your home, as we did lose many exactly this way.

M60 not .60 caliber 7.62mm (.308 Winchester .30 caliber) same as the M14 and today same as the M240/M60 (7.62mm) as well as the .45 1911 which was replaced by the M9 Beretta chambered in 9mm Luger and I much preferred the Mi6 A1 (full auto) as opposed to the to the A2 which is a 3 round burst as well the Vietnam M79 (.40mm) grenade launcher now the M203 pump...

There is an alternative, and very valid perspective to Vietnam. Those of us who resisted the Draft/Vietnam were serving our country...just as those who see this man doing it. Vietnam was an illegal war. It did not have anything to do with America or Americans. Yet, almost 60000 Americans lost their lives and there was a 10 year drain on the US economy. Many...many...veterans acknowledge a lot of BAD things happened in Vietnam. We who resisted did NOT enable our dysfunctional US Government in its erroneous foreign policy. We hastened the end of an American tragedy. Try thinking out of the box who you want to thank for their service and dedication. To resist the US Government could have serious consequences. Don't be mislead....a lot of Vietnam veterans chose to serve in Vietnam ONLY b/c it appeared to be the best option for them.

You are a coward. Trying to justify your actions. You comment on many of these videos saying the same thing. Why even watch them? The war is over. Whatever you say cannot change anything. There were many conscientious objectors that served and never fought in the war. They still went even though they did not support it or did not believe in what their government was doing. You could have easily done the same. You are a absolute loser.

@@1969tss It's b/c of truly ignorant clowns like yourself that I post the same things on all these pathetic videos. If you haven't noticed...the US has continually gotten itself into "Vietnams" ....since Vietnam. Damn right I justify myself. Vietnam was a loser's war.....and those that allowed their Government to bully or pressure them to serve in it were the real cowards. THEY were the ones that kept that war going for 10 years....for NOTHING. Your comment means absolutely nothing to me. You can take your "coward" statement and shove it where the sun doesn't shine. You can find it...it's where your head is also.

@@1969tssDid you even serve in the millitary and serve in combat? It's funny how people who criticize others for not serving in the military are those that never served themselves. You know it was a pointless war that did nothing for Americans.
@1969tss

@@robertisham5279 this war was not for Americans. It was for the south Vietnamese. Like how the Korean War was for the South Koreans. America was trying to stick up for other countries that didn’t want communism. They wanted freedom.
