Well, I'm currently considering investing in Vietnam (buying a Vietnamese-owned business), but the unfriendly banking regulations towards foreigners may end up being a deal breaker. Either I have full control of MY money or NO deal. Quite discouraged by that since I do love Vietnam. But love is one thing and money/business is another, so quite disheartening for me :(
Some sectors are allows to set up 100% foreign owned LLC. You can try to exclude some of the existing sectors to be eligible for 100% foreign ownership (if possible). Having the right banking partner can also help in specific businesses (import / export), invoicing foreign clients etc ... If you have to use a Vietnamese nominee, indeed you will never be in full control.
