My cousin, Captain Rhett Wayne Lewis, was a Huey pilot around this time. Shot down three times. Always survived. A real hero. Died of pancreatic cancer a few years ago. All of you are heroes.
I served with the army in 1969 and we rode more often in helicopters than we did in trucks. God bless those choppers and the pilots who flew them. I seem to recall a soldier getting killed when attaching one of those missiles to the helicopter.
Yes, it's excellent. Home footage has a level of quality no documentary could dream of having. It is the most intimate and gut-level telling of the stories of these men fighting this terrible war.
Awful flat down there in the Delta. Lot's of cumulo-granite to fly into, up in the Central Highlands. Got "Too much time" in the left seat C, D & H models, and Loaches, but that's why the Army wanted us at 20, not 44. Our "Horsepower to brain ratio" wasn't fully developed yet. Welcome home - I'm glad you survived! Carl 366th ASD, DakTo, 1968-69
Thank you buddy!! I was an Army air traffic controller, not (officially) an Army pilot, but we got plenty of opportunity to jump in the left seat and fly into harms way. Fortunately, I walked away from every landing. (You know what they say. Any landing you walk away from is a good one. IF you can fly the bird again... it's a great one)! Although not my primary MOS, I'll take to the grave the sound of bullets tearing through the skin of the bird. Welcome home, bro.....@@tblively1

During the Vietnam War there were a lot case of US ground troops commit a lot of attrocities toward many South Vietnamese villagers during their "Search and Destroy Mission." Many were never reported and a lot was being covered up by US General William Childs Westmoreland. There were many US ground troops saw the attrocities done by their fellow American troops and did nothing. While other participate. Vietnamese peoples were the victim of the Vietnam War. Even though many Vietnamese didn't start the War and didn't ask for it. That was the decision by the American peoples who voted for Democrats President JF Kennedy and LB Johnson as their Commander in Chief for their country. And Democrats President Truman who brought Communist support to Vietnam by allowing and supporting France to reclaim Vietnam as their colony. A country who value their freedom and independence from England. Deny other country of their own. America was never a democracy country. America is a Republic.
What's saddest of all, the politicians that got us into this we're told what would happen. There's a lot of answers to one question.. Why ? We have not learned, have we? Glad I'm old
The is the only part of being old besides the wisdom, that I like also. But it still goes on...... At least now they are treated as Heroes and not spit on.
@@tedhardulak7698 My first two weeks back in the world where spent in a holding cell. Literally, didn't even get off airport property. Some college kid attempted to grab my cover while I was carrying my bags
Thank you for your service doesn't cover it. I wish I could do more. Trying my best as a puke civilian to help maintain that which has been handed down to me thru the efforts of those that have and are serving 🇺🇲 Though gig no matter how you slice the PI ❤
Your buddy's scream was heard by his mother the moment he screamed. Remember there's a 12 hour time difference in the summer between V.N. and the east coast on daylight savings time . For instance , if it was Monday 9:30 pm in the U.S. (east coast) , it was 9:30 am Tuesday in V.N.
Where is this sourced from? I'm curious because your page seems like you are australian. Narrator/videographers sound cool i would love to find their media pages
Hi. Yes I am an Aussie. It’s an old video that was released in the late 80’s that you could buy at the time. I have never seen it since so decided to share with the world.
analyse the Sequence on Minute 39,53. There looks like a small withe UFO fly extrem fast from the right of the Screen to the left side. It is not a reflection,it,s a moving Object.
*sigh* I believe in other beings in the universe, but I really don't like those who try to shoehorn that ideology into every visual media on the planet. Give it a rest, guys, and fall back onto your very interesting, HD media that already exists. Peace.
