Today, people from all over come to enjoy their food, making A Bếp one of the most packed corners of the district. Truly a story with food for the soul.
Banh Mi Chao is Vietnam’s answer to a balanced breakfast of bread, ham, and eggs. It is also often served with vegetables and fried onions.

This woman is praising her husband and her kids but she's never considered that she herself is the backbone of the family. Her kids are smart and kind because she raised them to be that way, her husband is successful because she supports and encourages him.

I admire her openness and strong feelings about her previous situation, and now the one that she and her family live in. It seems that they will build off of it and be stronger in the end, and are already doing it. I hope to visit Vietnam some day, within the next few years.

She was very honest abt the feelings experienced with the “downgrade” in living. I appreciate that alot. Ppl sometimes try to cushion things and make it seem like they’re okay, but it’s okay to just say things suck but we’re doing better. The WHOLE family is golden wow

I used to have a family on my clan in this condition due to the 2009 Great Recession. However, that family went into the Ho Chi Minh City and created a restaurant chain. They are now back to wealthy paths again as they purchased 4 house plots in the city. From this video, I can see that the couple pulled up very well, and it reminded us on how recently was the 2009 Great Recession.

In sg we often hear success stories of rags to riches, of sheer hardwork paying off and of those sorts. But this story had it totally backwards haha. A rich family which fell hard and now content and grateful with what they have. How humbling...

I feel her. My mom runs a tourism business,which ran really well and it was very well known among the tourism industry. And we thought we had everything we wanted. We lived with comfort. We were considered as an upper-middle class . Until COVID-19 happen and tourism was totally shut down. We struggle. With no income, we try to sell some food. It kinda worked but we didn’t do it for so long before somehow my mom decided to move our family to another country . There, unlike when we were living in our home country, my mom has to work as an manicurist. It was a big change not only for her but for me. Neither of us would imagine that one day, my mom who has always been a manager would become a manicurist, working 7 days a week. With all these changes that happen in 2020 alone, I was quite depressed on all of these drastic changes. Dreams and plans that we used to have collapsed. Including mine. We have to restart everything despite what my mom has been maintaining for 20+years. I used to have a very big and surreal dream, but now what I basically dream of, is to have financial freedom and have a house that we could truly call ours in this foreign land. The pandemic changed my life in a way that I will never forget.

@Kc Ryan Unless you're living in a shithole slum, there's no way anyone is eating dog there unless they just prefer it over other meats for some reason. Most people eat what you would consider normal stuff like porridge, bread and noodles. Also, you are racist. You call the Vietnamese people savages just because they eat dogs. Unfortunately, some people don't have such options and can't live a leisure life, they have to survive. You calling them savages is no better than calling people from tribes in Africa monkeys because of how they have a different, non-modern lifestyle.

@masterboiboi 3 года назад
Siewmai as we know it from the cantonese cuisine probably undergone many changes. It probably started out as a meatball shaped dish and then the skin was added later on. The viets probably borrowed that dish but didnt do much changes to refine it. Thats why they have the same name but look different. The reason its translated into meatballs because anglophones see the similarity between this xiu mai dish and meatballs of the west so they refer it to meatballs (a variant of the east) although our more well known variants are called 肉丸

it is not the same thing as siewmai/shumai in Chinese if that what you are thinking, it's also spelled xiu mai instead of siewmai. I don't know why it's called that or what its relation to shumai is however
@miyako1909
@miyako1909 3 года назад
@@jacquelinetran9659 While it is not the same thing, it is adapted from the Chinese food, Shumai. Many Vietnamese foods came from China due to the 1000 years of China colonized Vietnam, but Vietnamese changed the seasonings to make to foods suited to Vietnamese' taste. For example, "thit kho hot vit" is the Vietnamese version of Dongpo pork.
