love these videos showing around Seattle, I've been to the International district but barely scratched the surface of it, and didn't get into little saigon, funny story, I had my first pho and Banh Mi while living in Seattle.
Pho bac is the truth! I go twice a week especially in the winter. I’m a bean sprout boy for sure though. Everyone goes right in with seasoning the broth. You MUST try it first to get the full effect. Most times you need very very light seasoning, especially at pho bac with their fatty savory broth. I’m going today.

I never knew there was a Little Saigon in South Seattle, just the International District. Great find, guys. Mouth was salivating over the Vietnamese coffees.You make me almost want to give banh mi a try (I have no idea why I don't like it much). As an aside, watching the light hit the windows and sidewalks of where you are made me a little homesick for the family I grew from the late '90s to 2020, before we moved away to Idaho. My son James works up in Capitol Hill on a construction project. He LOVES Asian food, kind of a late-comer, but most of his friends are Asian and re-introduced him. Thanks for letting us tag along.
Omg guys thank you for reinvigorating my food options here in Seatown. Been here my whole life and a lot of those little hole in the walls I’ve never been too. We’re going to Saigon deli today! I went to hs with the owners of Pho Bac! It’s been a super minute since I been there. The old restaurant was in this junky little building shaped like a boat lol it was always packed! Hole in the wall places are the best. Living in Spokane Washington I found a small Pho restaurant that I love. If your driving and blink, youll miss it.

Love pho and banh mi. We are taking the train from Oregon to Seattle next week. I know this video is a year old, but it sure was informative for me. Don't have this kind of food in the closest small town to us in Oregon. No bean sprouts for me. 😅 Thanks. Kathleen

I live in the international district, you've eaten at many of my usual spots. You chose right at the Pike Place Market as well, good food! I'm visiting Oahu here soon so I'll check out some of the spots you enjoy on the island.

the fries at pho bac are surprisingly bomb, that lemongrass sauce 🙌🏼 aroom is another great viet coffee shop in the greater seattle area! glad yall enjoyed seattle ❤ - S2K Andy 😂

You guys must have gotten to Saigon Deli before 11:30. It's packed at lunch time! Pho Bac is one of the first Pho places in Seattle. Great on a cold Seattle day.
Mouthwatering. I am up for this breakfast. Do hope you make it to the Uwajimaya Japanese Supermarket's food court if multi Asian cuisines Uwajimaya made the International District the diverse Asian Cultural area as a destination since at least the early 1990's.
You guys, please go to Wild Ginger and try the Seven Flavor Beef and the Mango Daiquiri to drink. I promise you it is delicious and will not disappoint. Located near Pike Place. Loving all your Seattle content and glad you got some good recommendations!❤😊

If you are still in Seattle, try Phnom Penh Noodle House on Jackson St. Seattle has some great Cambodian, Thai and Lao restaurants. Hope you will get a chance to try.
Cha lua… I see it labeled as “meat loaf” or pork loaf. I liken it to Vietnamese bologna 😝 We also went to your Pho Huong Lan recommendation in Oahu and my mom thought it was great (Vietnamese/Chinese 1st gen to US). ❤ Thanks for all the great recs!
Thanks for sharing! When I was living there I never hung out in that area because ... well, back then it was a lot sketchier. lol. But I'm so happy there are awesome food options for me to try out next time I'm there. Watching Felix take that first bite of Banh Mi almost brought a tear to my eye. lol. I can't wait until you guys visit Westminster in Orange County, California. It is going to blow your mind. :-) And thank you for the introduction on how to eat Pho. I would always just start putting the sauce in before trying the broth. Pro tips! I'm not a huge bean sprouts person either, but I'll eat them if I feel like I need to be healthy. You guys didn't walk all the way there from Pike Place Market, did you??? ;-)
Based on what we saw in the coffee shop and around the city it looked like they’re trying to revive this part of town which was really cool to see! There was so much Vietnamese pride 🙌🏼 it was awesome! Mahalo Mark! Glad we could show you the updates in little Saigon 👍🏻

Pho Bac is ok. My in laws lives in Seattle and they rave about that place but compare to the pho I grew up eating in Orange County its considered mediocre.
Aloha! I really enjoyed your Viet foodie tour in Seattle. You'll have to make a visit to Sacramento one of these days, "The Farm-to-Fork Capital of America." Sacramento also has a "Little Saigon" as well as other Asian enclaves with an eclectic mix of food options. There are non-stop flights on Hawaiian and Southwest Airlines between Honolulu and Sacramento. Check us out.
You keep mentioning how cold it is, and at the Pho restaurant , there's one diner wearing shorts. Here in the PNW, we all know one person that does this.
Man, prepandemic Saigon Deli was our go to for lunch. Fun seeing you guys in Downtown Seattle. I know there are issues now, but it can be such a fun city. I try to catch all your videos, so sorry if I missed it, have you been to uwajimaya - Japanese grocery store in the ID. Can't miss it.

Question on Banh Mi, is it normally in a French bread or French baguette? The reason I'm asking, in Little Saigon in Westminster & Garden Grove, California you have a choice and the baguette is my favorite and usually the more expensive version.
In my experience, in So Cal, the narrow baguette style bread became more trendy in the late 90s/2000s or so… growing up in the 80s/90s the thick stubby French bread style like in this video was the standard (Garden Grove Little Saigon and SGV areas).
In pre-1975 South Vietnam, Vietnamese bakers produced Banh Mi that was a hybrid between French Bread and Baguette; the bread was large like standard French Bread, but was also crispy like Baguette found in France. Southern Vietnamese war refugees who arrived in the U.S. in 1975 used French Bread, but they would put their bread in the oven to make it crispy. Years later when Banh Mi became more mainstream, shop owners would use either standard French Bread or Baguette. Standard French Bread and Baguette in the U.S. usually aren't crispy.

Great video !!! How much was the beef rib pho? I'm just wondering because my son took me out to a high end Vietnamese restaurant that just open in San Francisco called Gao Vet. Their beef rib pho was $33! Yes I kid you not. A bit too pricy for me.
Gao Viet is all hyped up because of his social media presence in my opinion. Not sure if the food is actually good, but his food is also definitely more on the luxurious fusion side than your everyday Viet restaurant.
@@aznmochibunny , you are on point Allison. The night we were there I swear the place was full and everyone looked under 40, if not under 30 yrs old. Untensils in one hand and a cell phone on the other. Social Media is alive and well in San Francisco! LOL
@@tonyc.1147 On the other hand, there are way better Vietnamese places in San Francisco and San Jose that are easily less expensive but on food influencers lists of go-tos. Many of them have been around a good 20+ years.
