VIEWERS REQUEST: REMAKE OF MY JEANS TO SKIRT VIDEO 

Such a great video. Thank you so much! I made this a few weeks ago immediately after watching this video, following your instructions to a T. Came out really good! I’m so happy. I had to hand sew it since I no longer have a sewing machine. The denim fabric was thin and summery so it wasn’t bad at all. Just took a little patience (it’s worth it!). Used an old pair of capris that were too baggy, and the waist was a little too big. After sewing the skirt I cut 3 slits inside the waist band, then inserted a one-inch wide elastic band. Sewed up the slits right through the elastic. Easy. It’s like having new clothing that actually fits!! I’m SO going to make another one. 🙌 Maybe I’ll post pictures on social media (I’m only on the fediverse). Will definitely give you credit.

I made these in 1975. Talk about throw back! I'm sending this video to my 18 year old granddaughter to see if she'd like me to make this for her. Thanks for the memories, and the reminder!

Mimi, I did this back in the late seventies when I was in high school. I also did a fabric insert, and then I used the same fabric to make a top with a hood.

I'm glad you addressed the "no sew" sewing tutorials. I've watched those and didn't get how something made only with glue was going to hold up over time? And you answered what to do with the hump left over in the back🙂

OMG!!!! I started sewing when I was 12 and fell head over heels with it. I made all my clothes from 7th grade until my senior year. I also made a lot of my little sisters clothes. I made a ton of clothes when I had children too. But lately I use my sewing machine for paper crafts. Today’s video made me want to sew clothes or at least cloth again. You are an awesome teacher. I think I got the bug again.

Love love love it! I was in between sewing a straight seam or over lapping with saving legs to piece together triangle piece to finish off! I think I prefer a straight seam.

Thanks for doing this tutorial, I'm gonna have to go and watch the older one now, lol. I'm not the biggest fan of no-sew tutorials either, especially for something like this. I need me a pair of acid wash jeans to make a cool denim skirt 😎

Miss Mimi G. Thank you very much for uploading this video and thank you very much for the way you present it. I think you're right about the the people that do no sew DIY videos. Go back to how strong that fabric glue is it will not last after a few washes and it will just fall apart. You cannot go wrong with an old fashioned sewing machine and sewing things properly. Guess what? If you sew with a sewing machine properly your item will never come apart. Have you ever tried turning a blazer into a skirt also have you tried turning a shirt into a skirt? Also could you do a video showing people how to take a denim skirt in that's two sizes too big for people who have lost weight and want to make their clothes fit them again? Again. Thank you for uploading this great video. Regards pure.

I need to finish the video, but my daughter was just telling me that there are some of her jeans that she's done with, that would make good skirts. Hey girl, I made a denim skirt, when I finished it, the backside kind of poofed out where I added the leg piece. I guess it could be because I don't have much a backside?

I've gone through all your videos, you are a awesome seamstress. Can you please do a skort. I've been looking for a skort pattern so I can make my version of skorts that look like the one in Beyonce clothing line. Simple skort with two pockets on the front.

This is great, thank you. Can i ask - anyone- why leave that little triangle piece at the crotch and in the back? That flap is just on top of other fabric so why not cut it off and have a straighter seam line?

Would love to see a sports (golf) dress and skirt for curvy girls. I have searched but can not find anything with a little flare. The golf wear designers are making really cute dresses and now that I have found sources to order cool sport fabrics , I would love to custom make my own. Of course, we have to remember that golf courses and country clubs are a few decades behind in what they consider approved styles. But give it some thought. Thank you. PLEASE

I started to make the long one before but one of the jeans was too heavy and the waste was too big. P.S. Some of us still love long skirts, especially in the winter.
