Revisiting this in 2021 and I thought all of these years I never gave "break time" at 9:21 a listen.. But thank you for opening a part of my memory of my first time witnessing the best break time of all time all over again.
All the Drake haters went on ITunes, listened to the snippets, and called the album trash like they actually heard it. Do yourselves a favor and actually listen to this album, it's fucking beautiful.
I've listened to it through 4 times...I'm not a drake hater, I just think most of the tracks kind of miss. I like about half the album. It's not trash, I just don't think it really was innovative or original. All the topics he talks about are the same. My favorite type of Drake is Weston Roads Flow, or 6 PM in New York type drake, just talking about a slur of things instead of the same shit, exes, trust issues, his enemies which he never directly talks about besides Meek during the summer. Although it's like an 7/10 which ain't bad right? I just don't think he stepped it up.
+Kenn Adams that's what I'm saying lol I actually would want to hear drake go full r&b I dislike drake a lot but I enjoyed this album for the most part
"You know them tires you been sittin' on?" "What'chu gon' do with them tires?" "Ima replace all FOUR of dem bitches!" " *Inhale* AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA-"
Views is like an album you to really listen over and over again; My first listen was ehh, but as I played he album over and over again, it became an instant classic for me.
The flows and lyrics and subject matter in "If You're reading this..." was very original and fresh. Drake had killer beats and various flows that switched throughout the song. I felt Drake had finally found himself as an artist. But in Views...he goes back to that same flow. His lyrics are back to being more simple and predictable. I was a little disappointed.
Kyrie Irving I think that album was rather out of character for him. The beats, lyrics, and flows seemed very trendy to me. He is not a trap artist. His subject matter was redundant boasting that is seen in any hip-hop album ever.
Views without a doubt is dope is af, I genuinely love it. The reason why it's getting a hard time right now is because MISCOMMUNICATION. 2015 was Drakes best year in his career. He dropped so many bangers & bars that everybody was on him. But he never said whether Views was gonna be a continuation of that or not. So when you drop something like Summer Sixteen, with Views around the corner, everyone assumed that was the sound of Views. But it's a very Take Carish, NWTS album. So that's why I think everyone's saying its bad or whatever, they just expected some Back to Back, summer sixteen type shit.
i agree, but i like both rapping drake and his classic singing style. i like how this album tries to appeal to both of his fans, the fans that like him for his singing side, and the other for his rapping side
Over a billion streams later, 7 weeks at number one for the first time in 16 years by a male, over a million albums sold first week, AND DOUBLE PLATINUM IN TWO MONNTHS, and people still saying its trash.
Drake sounds the same in every single and when he raps every sentence ends with a ryme from his previous sentence he gets boring and repeats a lot of beats
+rey morris the whole thing together is like a 4 or 5/10 but the middle section was too slow, repetitive, and below mediocre imo. especially grammys and that partynextdoor track
Been a Drake fan since '08 and I can say that the album was a little disappointing compared to the anticipation around it and the long wait. Still a great album, Drake did his thing.
+Eddy Nates yeah it was just the fact that I was waiting for this album for about a year and a half before IYRTITL but I still fuck with it though his singing is great and those samples where we'll chosen he's improving so much 💯
Views was just another dope Drake album, that's it. I enjoy his music and salute his consistency but personally I feel as an artist he doesn't take enough risks. This is why Kanye will always be the better artist to me. Kanye has never made the same album twice, for better or for worse.
you see I can agree with that he makes great albums but doesn't take risks. only thing I disagree with is the kanye thing.....I feel he is VERY overhyped. Like everything he makes is straight legendary when in reality like half is decent
I respect your opinion man. But think about it, his whole carreer was risk with singing and rapping and people accepted it . Then he dropped songs like , hold on we are going home, that was a risk and people liked it, then he dropped hotline bling, that was another risk, people loved thing. I think his music has changed a lot.
+MonkeyD Luffy if u read the Kanye part again I clearly stated "for better OR for worst" meaning sometimes he takes a risk and there's a pay off, & other times it can cause people to have opinions like yours.
+VAMPxIRE People accepted the singing and rapping because the wall was already broken down... so I respectively disagree about that being much of a risk. Kanye and other musicians sung and rap before Drake... and Drake has already stated over and over again that Kanye is his greatest influence so it's impossible to ignore that.
I don't understand why ppl here to talk bad about the album. If you a true drake fan then this project is actually great to you. The mixture of different beats, singing, rapping, like Weston Road Flows is that old drizzy right there he brought a little of that back but I guess y'all don't want ppl to evolve in the music industry. This album is perfect man. I guess cause I been listening to drake since "Room for Improvement" and "Come Back Season." The man had changed his style, flow, concept almost every mixtape or album. Gotta respect that
just because you're a drake fan does not mean all his shit is good. I am a drake fan but his two last projects were garbage .don't tell me hotlinebling goes hard that shit is wack one dance is wack I honestly think he should go rmb because he can't rap his better at singing like really he made a track about a cheesecake.
Views isn't Drake's best work but it's still a damn good album. Might not have the bangers throughout the album that many were hoping for such as Back to Back/Summer Sixteen, etc., but it's not a "trash" album at all; I consider it far from it. It's a very good album that I enjoy throughly and that's my opinion.
I definitely think it's close up there to Take Care imo. People were just expecting more of a If You're Reading This... type album I feel so they didn't like it as much... I loved it
Take care > NWTS > IYRTITL >>>>>>>>> Views. He let me down man, it's quite boring. Some bars need to grow the fuck up. He got like 5 nice songs on this, the rest is him trying to redo what he's already done but worse :( Drizzy whyyyyyyyyyyy
+Travis Houze i felt like the hype was what it was suppose to be, starting with IYRTITL, then the meek beef, WATTBA, and hotline bling, drake was set up for greatness and didnt deliver
say what you want about Drake or this album, but the summer sixteen was one of the funnest experiences in my life. him and future really know how to throw a concert. one of the highlights was when Drake let the crowd sing the part around 13:30
+dan dandiman yeah! any song that The Weeknd touches is gold. Like with Future-Low Life and the song with Beyoncé on Lemonade. I thought for sure a song with him was going to make it on Views. Oh well.
J Cole the realist rapper , Kendrick the best lyricist of all time and Drake is there to get you hyped up that's why he's loved by so many including myself
That's just my opinion you know . Em is great but just not my style. Cole put him in his place in Fire Squad on FHD. Drake is the most popular artist right now arguably so I'm not alone on that
This album was the best drake could do. He wasn't trying to throw a whole lot of bars. He was speaking from his city and his feelings were all over this album. Take care lovers will fuck with this album but people who just with Kendrick because of lyrics and shit will hate this. Just my opinion. I loved this shit. It brought all kinds of dope vibes. I'm not listing to this album for lyrics. I'm listening to this because the vines are hella dope.
+joshblue32 true dat. The reason why many didn't like this album cos they expected more bangers like IYRTITL and WATTBA. Or that they wanted a lot of lyrical shit like Tuscan Leather and the Time & Location tracks. But I loved this, it really brought a perfect mix of different vibes.
I feel this what drake set out to do from the beginning. people kept thinking he had hard bars, but really he just raps about his feelings. I like drakes songs but I don't respect him too much if he don't write his own raps. this album sums drake up completely
+Noel Quiles I agree. NWTS has some really good depth and has a nostalgic feeling. It has a free type of feeling...no pressure. I can relate to almost all of the songs. It took me awhile before I realized he rapped over 3 different beats on Tuscan Leather. It has many layers. IYRTITL and Take Care are close seconds and I'm glad they don't sound the same. Views will grow on me.
+will81387 wish I could like this 1,000 times .. pretty much any artist that doesn't have such a basic and consistent subject matter, I really do enjoy
I hated Views at first but another listen and I loved it, it's a lot slower tempo, but it's chill and I can vibe to it, which is nice to me. If I wanna get down I'll listen to If You're Reading this It's Too Late
I'm a HUGE drake fan, but sadly I don't agree. I think your only saying this because you're probably younger and don't know old school drake, but sadly this isn't his best. Not amazing, it was good
I think the marketing and all the hype it got ruined it for so many people. If he would've released it like IF Your Reading This It's Too Lage, everybody would've thought it was great, Honestly if we're talking about Drake this is another normal classic Drake album.
If you're a fan of the "If you're reading this" Drake, you're prolly not gonna like this album. This album is for real Drake fans. If this isn't his best album, I don't know what is...
lol nah kid sit down "for real drake fans" I'm the realist there is I know the lyrics even from room for improvement. its need a little something extra but still everyone is entitled to their opinions
+Aidan Moore I don't think you are the person who can even distinguish what a "real drake fan" is lol. You can just simply say that if you are wanting a lot of hard hitting raps then this probably isn't the album for you except for a couple songs.
You have to listen to it more than once to like it the first time I listened I didn't like it but once I kept listening it grew it's not take care but it's a great album.
LMAO! You are funny dude. I gotta say at 4:19 I felt the same way for "Hype". I just wished there was more of that on Views. You know, the vibe of "If youre reading.." that can only be delivered be "rapping Drizzy".
When I first hear any of Drake's Albums or songs, They seem alright to me. I'm pretty much just neutral at first. But, after a couple days, weeks, or sometimes months, I do find myself Enjoying every song on the album, and each song creates a special moment which becomes a memory. The best time, in my opinion, is to listen to his music while cruising in the night, in a big city or highway, with the music blasting.
Drake has said he makes his music for riding around at night. Thats why it gives you those vibes. Listen to fire and desire at night in the car bro smh. The feels on that
Kendrick, Drake, J Cole, and Logic tryin to kill a brother with their sounds man. Hot damn. And Kanye in the corner in case we survived. And wherever Frank Ocean be hiding, he goin sing at my funeral.
+EdwinPWNZ he really is and people say "Top 10 Rappers" and they put Drake at 3, I'm like "wtf r u doing with ur life" like be4 he was good, but now all he sings is about girls, and fake loyalty, when people stop saying Drake is a rapper I'll give him slack but for right now he's a pussy ass bitch who scared to flame K Dot, or Cole
Now with that being said..... Kendrick 3 Drake 0 Since 2012 King Kunta has mauled the yellow nigga in comparison of projects this debate needs to end bruh
