@@dragondude9637 Vigo could have done that when Venkman came close and said "destroy me" but, I think the reason Vigo didn't do anything like that because, he (Vigo) would have wanted to keep his identity secret not wanting anyone to know that he's a ghost acting like a painted figure in the painting and if he moved or came out of the painting, that would cause more trouble on himself. Especially I'm sure Vigo would only be interested in moving and doing other things when nobody else is around and nobody is watching just like he possessed and talked to Janoz when he (Janoz) was all alone.

@@afriendofbean he needed more time for the slime to charge. The charged slime formed a sort of cocoon around the museum and the negative energy it had stored allowed him to materialize. If he had struck out here he would have been too weak to stay out long and they could just destroy the painting. Even at his peak power he needed a host body to remain a lifetime. Presumably he comes and goes between host forms, ruling the world in blood and darkness before being locked away again. His reign would cause more negative emotion and likely prolong his tenure on our plane, a cycle that eventually ends with his imprisonment for some time. Like Samhain, every now and then he takes over the planet and rules in a perpetual night. Then eventually gets locked away again. This seems to be how it goes for most of the ghostbusters monsters but in the past it was a big ordeal to trap them. In the modern day with Proton packs, the answer to ancient evil is usually pretty straightforward

@@hello-ox5rf Well, I do remember Vigo poked his head out of the painting and I'm sure he would be able to come out if he wanted. Regarding needing a host form, he would only choose a baby because he said he needed to find a child to live again wanting to make himself a young baby again where baby Oscar was chosen. He was very close to possessing Oscar but, the people outside singing "Auld Lang Syne" outside the museum weakened him making him weaker than the Ghostbusters proton streams which killed him.

Didn't notice till just now, but at 1:52 you can see, as Ray is scanning the Painting and looking up, you can see him jump a bit when he meets the Eyes of Vigo and stop there like he is fixated before the shot changes. Nice little detail in the shot.

In the novel, Ray does briefly become possessed by Vigo just as Janosz has been. But it was more of a delayed reaction. While under Vigo's influence, Ray starts driving Ecto wildly with wild eyes and everything. Edit: Catherine Walker mentions how he came to his senses. But as we did see at the end, Ray is still under his control and fully possessed until everyone else fires on the Vigo and painting.

Same! Ok so I am a night owl right even now I’m a night owl I’m even writing this down at 12:00 at night so I used to watch the first and second one religiously since the age of three to the age of 6 and I always kinda found the second one to be scarier then the first one which I find as an oxymoron because the second one was more targeted towards kids but one day I just stop watching both of them and here’s why one night it was three in the morning and at that time I always had the door open just a creek and I was staring at the light on the floor and slowly the floor started morphing into vigo face like when vigo was transferring into the baby and Dana took the baby and the face was there and slowly disappeared it was like that and I was petrified and so terrified I did not sleep that day and i and I could not watch either movie without nightmares and it took me a while for me to get over it but I’m ok now

Anyone catch Venkman snapping his fingers which seems to put Ray into a trance? Never did get why he snapped his fingers until it was just the “photographer” he was playing trying to get his subject to look at him.
