Im a long term investor in asests, i feel 20% LTCG tax with CII over 24 months would have made more sense instead of 12.5%. Government did grave mistake by removing indexation benefit on real estate, hope they rectifies this mistake asap

Slabs should have been made for capital gains the way it is for normal salary/ business income. Make capital gains for individuals having annual income above 50L as 20%, income between 25-50L to 10% and below 25L as 0%. That will help small investors to stay invested and rich people either way won’t mind to pay taxes as they are in a good place.

Sir in Canada LtCG tax is not 50% I think investor pay tax only on 50 % of gains if investment held more than year It is same in Australia for example if person sold shares after one year and made profit of $200 he will only pay tax on $100(50%] after year as per his applicable income tax slab which can be from 15-40% thanks little correction

I would say on the contrary that naked long term investment without risk management is speculation. Vijay kedia is the real speculator who does not hedge his portfolio. On the other hand When you are buying something in cash and selling a call option , you are not speculating because you are saying, I am confident on my view about the company but market is supreme. When my price comes, profit will get booked. But till then I earn via call option premium. Using derivatives is called humility in investing
