In this video, let's talk about some of the details about the VIKAS engine with the help of 3D animation.
Vikas is a family of liquid-fuelled rocket engines conceptualized and designed by the Liquid Propulsion Systems Centre in the 1970s. The design was based on the licensed version of the Viking engine with the chemical pressurization system. The early production Vikas engines used some imported French components which were later replaced by domestically produced equivalents. It is used in the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) and the Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV) series of expendable launch vehicles for space launch use.
Vikas engine is used to power the second stage PSLV, boosters and second stage of GSLV Mark I and II, and the first stage of GSLV Mark III.
On July 15, 2018, a high thrust version of the Vikas Engine was successfully qualified through a ground test for a duration of 195 seconds at ISRO Propulsion Complex (IPRC), Mahendragiri, Tamilnadu.
The animation is made in Blender 2.92 (EEVEE)

Huh? That guy is a copy cat. My neighbor was a senior to this Nambi in ISRO. This guy is just full of himself and take credit for other team's work. This guy lied a lot too. Not many people in ISRO is happy about this guy. He is a semi fraud.

None of these engines were purely developed by indian scientist alone. Knowledge were transferred from France , Ukraine and other countries. The only mini engine believed to be developed purely by indian scientist is PS4 stage of PSLV which is just a compressed thrusters without any turbo pumps. However technology is so advanced in developed countries now and nobody talks much about it.
@jaikumar848
@jaikumar848 2 года назад
Agreed but you have to acknowledge the fact that when indians learn that technology from France they built better engine than France. In india indian scientists didn't had much exposure and facilities like France but when they get they performed better than french
@Yuva_Maddy
@Yuva_Maddy Год назад
In that case we should be taking credit for a lot of mathematical astronomical metallurgical and agricultural concepts we Indians developed. Europeans didn't develope them from scratch they got them from the Arabs and the Arabs got them from us.

I liked the video for the following interesting reasons : 1. I personally never took an interest to know how engines works in Rockets though I am mechanical engineer cos I used to think it's 'rocket science'😜 but I must say that because of this video I feel like it's not 'rocket science' but it's just best (mechanical) engineered produce. 2.I was amazed to know that you've got this information from French Design, I mean if not Indians how can they put this design free on internet ? Or they do not have their concern regarding their designs ? (Just a question popped up while watching ) 3.The name 'Vikas' ❤️ ! I mean I know how much Vikram Sarabhai have contributed to India's space exploration wing so it's great tribute to them.. 4.Thank you for the subtitles ✌️

Why do we use water for cooling, when the rocket goes to space the water gets frozen, and over the period, the water evaporates. So how do we overcome this problem ??

Bro I have a doubt. I think the water injection through water centrifugal pump is used for steam generation rather than for cooling purposes. And the gas generator is actually a steam generator/boiler. Solely burning a rocket fuel to run a turbine based on exhaust gases is not feasible. Thus, they would be using the combustion energy of fuel to convert water into steam and then use it to run the turbine blades. The temperature of steam/exhaust gases are controlled through valves controlling the fuel inflow and mix, which also maintains the constant speed of a turbine blades like in any powerhouse turbines for uninterrupted power supply.
