You say "viking" 25 times. Viking is an 18th century word. These peoples were called "Norse" "Norse men" or "north men" by almost everyone up until the 1970s. "Viking" is a meme it appears, that people just like to say .. Perhaps because it's gender neutral.

Norse is a modern English word not a word used during the Viking age, the word Vikingr is found on rune stones from the Viking as and use different ways it's also found in the Icelandic sagas written in 1200 , the Vikings were called many things depending on who wrote about them Varangians, Rus, Danes, Northmen, Normans, Sveirs ect. they certainly didn't call themselves Norse for Scandinavians the people in the North is the Norweigians only, so what to call them? in Scandinavia we call them Vikings because everybody know who we are talking about and what time in history
