It's time for the comparison, the final challenge, tools will be destroyed! The authentic Viking Arm (distributed by Massca), has won round after round of challenges. Until now the only win that the scammers have had was the price. Now it is Chinas turn to lift something and prove that it can deliver when it counts.
I Unbox the Chinese tools and do a side-by-side comparison. Then I take the tools out to the lumber yard to try and lift the walnut slabs that the Viking Arm lifted in video #1.
If you want a spoiler, go to 10:45.

I am not sponsored or an affiliate of Massca or Viking Arm, but I was given a tool by Massca for comparison purposes.

Thanks for doing this scam vs. fake show down, Chris! Great comparison video you showed here. It's important to note the dangers of using an untested "replica" tool. The Viking Arm won't let you down on the job and it's has been backed by FIMTECH (Norway) testing ensuring it's got your back you need it the most! Glad you stayed safe during this test. At least the other guys went out with a bang. 😆

It was my pleasure. While I used safe lifting procedures when I lifted with the Viking Arm, it felt solid enough I wasn't worried. After I put weight on the knockoff, it felt so flimsy and started to wobble that it had me worried. On the bright side, the knockoff has such a low lifting capacity that it becomes a built in safety (to look at it as the glass is 1/10th full).

don't you think you're being disgenuin calling your competition knock offs when you guys aren't the first to make this tool? I agree the one this guy shows in the video is crap and the one you guys make looks to be of good quality but there are multiple companies out there that use better more solid materials.

Doesn't someone making a copy of a patented item, and using the pictures of the patented item represent a knock off?

I’ve noticed something that the sellers do who sell the cheap units: Instead of saying what the lifting capacity is of their units, they’ll use words or phrases like load bearing capacity or support capacity. A lot of us can hold a 200 lb person on our shoulders. It’s quite another thing to lift an unconscious 200 lb person that’s laying down and put them on our shoulders. Cool that you actually show the difference here between load bearing capacity and lifting capacity. Great video!

It seems they all have their own twist on the scam, except quality product, I have never seen that twist on the scams

Bought two real Viking Arms and two copies - your review was helpful - the real ones are so much nicer than the fake - I wouldn't trust the fake ones for much at all... It was painful paying the price, though, for the real ones - but I'm glad I did. I got them to lift up my laser to make some adjustments, but they come in handy for a LOT of other things where you need to lift something carefully. The lowering mechanism on the genuine one is so much nicer than the others as well.

Glad to hear it. There have been a few painful purchases I have made. At least they only hurt once, instead of every time I need it.

Thank you, I was almost going to buy cheap one, then I googled reviews… and I’m glad I did! Viking arms seems ‘too expensive’ but I can see the value in it now! Easy decision

You are welcome. I am a buy cheap kind of guy, but quality differences like this I can't take.
@juanandrada6651

The reason for the fakes is that the original is so expensive.
@CustomCreativeCarvings
@CustomCreativeCarvings 2 года назад
True, people think they can get a good deal, so others will take their money. I guess expensive is relative. The scammers charged me $30 for 2 pieces of 3d printed plastic that I could have printed in 5 minutes.

I’ve seen scams for rolling tool chests before and they show as sponsored ads on places like Facebook Marketplace making it have to believe that it isn’t the actual company selling the product. I guess a good predictor of it being legit is the age old saying, “If it’s too god to be true…”. I will certainly be keeping a better eye out on future Amazon orders.

That knock-off really looked bad. Only thing it would be useful for is to keep invoices on the table when the wind is on. 😂

So the cheap ones will 'hold' but not lift much. But a block of wood will hold, too. So, basically, the cheap knockoff is not as useful as a block of wood.

Yeah, of the 2 sets of cheap that I ordered, the first was drone parts, which had no use at all, the second could work for light duty work. They were clumsy and harder to use, but they were probably worth the price (except one came broken). I definitely recommend the real thing, but for occasional light use, the cheapo could work (as long as they send you a lift). Just be ready to call your credit card company. Thanks for watching, I appreciate the comment as well.

Unfortunately, I agree. I felt the same way after publishing it. While they did send me the tool, my review was sincere. Here we are a year later, and I still use the Viking Arm regularly, while the knock offs sit in a junk box in a corner of my shop. Maybe I watched too many infomercials as a kid, still no excuse. Hopefully my future tool reviews are less infomercial-ish. Thanks for the feedback.

Thank you. I don't know if you have ever done IKEA, PAX, Sliding Doors. But they are a pain. I think I'm going to have to bite the bullet and get the real Viking Arm, and not a copycat. It's just $200 is steep for me. At that price, I can see why there are so many copycats.
@CustomCreativeCarvings

You are welcome. I have not done those, but the door I did install was made so much easier with the Viking Arm. I agree it is definitely a buy once cry once kind of scenario.

Sour grapes. You wanted the "good deal" rather than the real deal, so jumped in with both feet before engaging brain and now want to blame the tool. I have 4 "cheapos" I paid about $25/each several years ago and they still work just fine. I paid about $25 several years ago. If I were a professional cabinet installer or had other commercial uses, I'd probably buy the Viking brand, but for the home DIYer, the only reason to buy the Viking is bragging rights. The $600 I saved paid for other things I wouldn't have been able to afford otherwise. Bottom line, if you don't know a deal is too good to be true, it isn't - then you shouldn't be using hand tools or the internet.

I am glad you are happy with your purchase, if you just need light duty, and they actually send you tools that don't get broken in shipping, then cool. I wanted to do a comparison of the cheap and the real, so I did. There may be good knock offs out there, just not the 2 that I tried.

Is there any mistake this for that? $30 vs $200

With these, there is not. It's just a total advertising scam.

Here's the problem. EVERYTHING is made in China nowadays. However, there is made in China but to proper specifications (after all, iPhones and many branded tools are all made in China too), vs made in China by lookalikes but low quality. It really makes it hard for consumers. Now if the branded products don't charge like wounded bulls, then we the consumer are less tempted to go for el-cheapo clones. But take for example phones - if a working and not-too-bad phone can be 1/8th the price of iPhone or Samsung, guess which one we buy?

Ok boss I’m sorry I had to comment. This was an absolutely waste of my time and others. You compared it to a single item. I thought how big of a spectacle to made this to be with 4 different parts I was going to spend 220.00 on this item. I actually think I need to do more research now. You should have just made 1 video unboxing and very small comparison review would have been a better title just so I was not upset and let down by the end. Hopefully if you make more in the future you do a real showdown like I watch people do with their tool videos. Thanks for trying. Good luck.

I found 4 over 100.00 that claim to be all steel I am comparing to decide. But I saw like 25 on amazon alone.

I appreciate the comment. My original intent was to do it more like you suggested, but with shipping delays and other issues it didn't work out. I probably should have been more patient and waited until everything had made it in. I would definitely recommend doing a lot more research before buying any other brand. I will say that to this day I am glad that I have a Viking Arm, it is handy and dependable. I do apologize for the wasted time, I try to continuously improve my content.
