Mine is some old model from allstar, 1600 N (not read-able anymore). Allstar is perfectly fine, similar to PBT what I have heard of. But it has to be 1600N. But most fencing masks are alone not suitable for HEMA/huscarl. They lack throat, neck and upper/backhead protection. You should definitely use an overlay. I use the Trinity one from SPES and its great so far.
Too much high cross! It does not land as much as you think it does and it leaves you very open to counter attack. There are times when it is useful, but they are few and far between.
@@alexandermartzok_vikingcombat Well there are high crosses and there are "high crosses". What I am referring to here is when you swing at his sword side with most/all your weight on you left foot, your spine bent to the left, your arm over your head (which also puts it over your shield!), and your sword tip pointed slightly down. All are signs you are overextending. It is possible to throw a cross just over the top of you shield parallel to the ground, but what you generally see is people doing exactly what I describe above instead as they try to reach to find a target. I often start an attack with a cross to the opponents shoulder, but I understand it is not going to land and is just a way to gain tempo. It is short and quick and there is no reaching. Most simply are not disciplined enough to not reach. Heck even I find myself sometimes falling into the trap, but I know it is a trap. The shot seldom lands and it leaves you way overextended.
@@acvarthered I see what you mean! Thanks for the advice! I agree, I would "theoretically" avoid it but yeah there is always some bad habit in the heat of combat.
