I love your channel. I just started doing Viking knit and it my new favorite way to make jewelry. I added some copper beads on my second bracelet and it was beautiful!

I made the Viking earrings this evening. I added copper and ceramic beads to it and it’s cut. I wanted to send you a picture of them, however, I’m not sure how to do that through You Tube. Love your teaching style and your channel.

Thank you! Viking Knit is definitely worth trying - and the advantage of these earrings is that you don't have to make a long length! 😃

The first 2 versions are cute, but I esp. like the 3rd version. The shape is just more flattering to my face shape. Gonna give it a try. TFS!

I love this idea for the viking knit scraps. What pretty earrings. I also have the same question as Austin. I have never used liver of sulfur because I don't know what to do about the ear wires. For bright copper, I buy rose gold plated ear wires and that matches pretty well.

Pamela Lawrence same answer for you, use Renaissance Wax to protect your patina, it is temporary, but you can then use a spray on laquer/gloss to seal everything in.

Hi Pamela! Check out my answer to Austin. For these earrings, I know the pictures don't show it up very well, but the wire I used is bright copper, and the hooks for the embellished bar and the drop earrings are bright copper, so you can match this in with antiqued copper - or of course use the rose gold. I have also seen entirely copper earrings with silver hooks, so it really only depends on your preference!

What copper wire is best for your jewelry: soft , semisoft, hard, semihard. Can you give me wire softness manufacture standard number if you know?

Lily, what are your experiences when working with copper ear hooks? I know copper turns some people's skin green and irritates others .

Austin Ilardo you can use Renaissance Wax to protect your patina, it is temporary, but you can then use a spray on laquer/gloss to seal everything in.

Hi Austin! I haven't had too many problems. Copper allergy tends to be less common than many other metal allergies. The green skin issue is purely cosmetic (it isn't a sign of any reaction or allergy) but can be unsightly. So I tend to seal my pieces and for ear hooks I've been using Protectaclear, which lasts a bit longer than renaissance wax. I just use this straight onto the copper, whether oxydised or not. When I'm selling, I also offer to switch out the findings if people would prefer plated etc. The great thing about these earrings, though, is that you could make them as mixed metals and add, say, silver wire for the coiling then silver ear hooks! 😃
