The Kattagat subplot after bjorns death feels pointless it kinda like ending game of thrones but we just ends with that golden company commander and Cersi's servent girl Incharge

I’ve been a fan of it since the first season as well. Although there are many unhistorical factors. I could overlook them because the writing & acting was fantastic! The last episodes were SO historically incorrect, it became a Fantasy Show & not a Historical piece! Could they have made King Alfred look any dumber?! A Ridiculous horrible ending to a wonderful quasi-historically accurate Show!

My main problems I had was there where too many characters and too many things happening at the same time.Sometimes I was watching and character are fighting etc and I don't remember who they are and why they are fighting .Left and right characters are dying and then there's a new character. I told this to someone and they just said I wasn't paying attention, sometimes I'm sitting watching or I'm working on 3D modeling but with other shows I did this and never had a problem.It got so annoying that I lost interest in the show and stopped watching in the middle of season six. Then there are the sex scenes.I know this is a me problem but too me there are just way to many, and I don't feel comfortable watching people having sex.So I just skipped them and just tried to ignore it and I still tried to ignore it, but oh that season 6 is when shit ready hit the fan.
The sex scenes also made me uncomfortable. There's like five in every episode. Way too many characters as well, I found myself forgetting some of them existed till I saw them again. Large crowds of people in every other scene. It's too much to keep up with
I only watched season 6 because I wanted to know where the sons of ragnar would end up. All the other side plots i.e. Kattegat side plot etc. were so boring I skipped them. Additionally there were to many battles and it felt like a won or lost battle did not have any build up or consequences. The battles only serve to kill off Bjorn and Ivar (both deaths pretty cheap) and otherwise add nothing to the story. After a lost battle the show just moves on without any major consequences for Norway or the people. I miss when a battle was planned for 2 episodes and then well executed in the next with twists and turns and not just to move the plot further.
this was a great summary... i watch whole series... came down to last 2 episode to watch and i couldn't stomach it to do it... and i was wondering why i felt like this, let me see if others feel the same way...and i was right!!... im glad i dont have to watch last 2 episodes now.. there is no pay off! which is disappointing because it was 20 damm episodes in last few season. feel like this show was all over the place and i hate it... King Harold storyline is the worse... Ivan back and forth was annoying as well.... Hope Valhalla is better
I thought the first half of season 6 give or take was pretty good but the last 8 episodes were a bit of a cluster f@@@. I still think Vikings final season is a f@@@ load better than Game of Thrones, Dexter, Lost, The Wire and The Sopranos final seasons.
After a long time I rewatched vikings, because i stopped close to where Ragnar died. Now I am nearly at the end of vikings season 6 and I just can't understand how a show that started of so good and had so much character development, plummeted into such a state that I can not recognize the show anymore. The pointless deaths are reeeeaaallly annoying. They all survive unbelievable stuff and now they die as nobodies. It is almost as if the writer gave up. And now this new Vikings show, that is a joke, parades it's corps in front of us.
P.s The only parts I liked was the speech King Alfred made to his Troops and the conversation between King Alfred and Ivar The Boneless, under the White flag 🏳 P.ps the acting was still AWESOME! Unfortunately, the writing sucked!
i personally hated bjorn's character lol he was basically just mimicking ragnar the entire time and it felt extremely forced throughout and just threw me off. ivar's story as a whole was the main reason i stuck around following ragnars death in season 4
Thanks for your comment Dylan! I share the same opinion. Ivar was the only reason I stuck to the end. Bjorn was nothing too special in my opinion. And I think that people overhype about him. Perhaps because of the his final scenes, I don't really know.
Same, but even his story became hard to watch, we had like 30 episodes of civil war that added nothing but filler and went nowhere... then to top it off they made him cry and whine about dying.
As soon as they made ragnar a violent addict, I knew they was trying to make him look bad so they could kill him off. After he died I stuck around for ivar and Floki, though the Iceland storyline was hard to watch and his character died in the volcano to me. Ubbe should have stayed a Christian ruler in East Anglia, cause his story added nothing. And there's not even any point of talking about ivar seeing as all he did was have 30 episodes of civil war then died like a girl.
Hahaha you are welcome! It is a known fact that after Ragnar's death the show's viewership started decreasing but in my opinion - the show maintained a high standard until the 6th season came. I have to admit that I personally did not lose interest throughout the years up until recently. Thanks for the comment!
I'm watching again now because I stopped after Ragnar died. They dragged seasons 5 and 6 for too long. They could've wrapped it up with 10 episodes. Especially Ivar in Kiev, ugh. Bjorn annoyed me, especially after his first daughter died. He did not give a ish, and he did not give a ish about any woman.
Also, lol I did like the conversation between King Alfred & Ivar under a flag of truce. The Actor that plays King Alfred the Great. Is more like King Alfred the cowardly (King Alfred was MUCH smarter & a great warrior, then the show makes him out to be! You don’t get the epitaph of the “Great!” Unless you’ve done something impossible or seems impossible!) The point is: the Actor who plays Alfred was a horrible choice!
So much time and commitment and support for this show for it's writers to deliver a complete abortion of a second half of a season. Just got off a 7 month deployment so I just now finished watching season 6 part 2 tonight. Makes me totally weary of their spin off ideas.

The final battle was soooo anti climatic and dumb. I mean, the vikings had the saxons surrounded and they were bombarding them with cattapults. Yet for some reasons Ivar decides to enter te battle, let himself get killed and then all of a sudden is is decided that vikings just lost the battle. It makes absolutely no sense at all
We all know the series floped after season 5 after they showed a cripple walk through a field filled with highly skilled fighters killing each other and managed to kill one of the most skilled fighters on the island.. What a joke 😂😂😂
I didn't mind 6a but I really was disappointed with 6b...Olaf's story was pointless, Ivar's death was just stupid, Oleg doesn't even put up a fight? Gunniheld just kills herself? The list goes on. Every episode we get ten minutes of nothing by way of ubbe starving on the seas, and they run away from kjetill instead of fighting him. Love floki but his return was pure fanfare and he didn't act like himself at all. Alfred vs Ivar battle was forced. No shield walls, no signature chariot that the syr predicted would throw Ivar to his death. Ivar's death was so bad. The Erik and Ingrid plot was lame Had they done a final season 7 of ten episodes to develop these plotlines properly, I think it would have been much better. This is what happens when you try to conclude a series with not enough time
i personally loved season 6 , there were some points that could have been better, but there were lots of good character deaths that were just brilliant put in scene
I noticed in the show that somebody's daughter was always dying Bjorn's , flokis , Ragnar's , siggys , ubbe and torvi and the sons of Ragnar we're wack af 🤣🤣🤣 they tried too much to copy Ragnar's swag and character
I finished season 6, it also remindes me of season 8 GoT. There where so many unreasonable Things Happening. A lot of deaths felt rushed and nonsense. A Lot of Plots where pointless. The hole russ-kiev Thing you could have left Out wouldnt Change a Thing. Ubbe sailing to No where, leaving Greenland without food and Not Killing keitil First to ressuply before leaving. Also Ubbes Plot is absolutely pointless and so seperaten from the Rest, it has basicly No Connection to the Rest. Lagerthas Plot and leaving the Childs in a town without Protection. Björn Not Killing the bandits and leaving a danger for bis folk. Ivar acting unreasonable, Killing himself on the battlefield as Well as Gunhild Killing herself without reason. Hrvisik beeing absolutely useless. Alfred beeing a Psychopath Warrior having multiple deadly Sounds and fighting as nothing happened. The Last Kingdom portrayed Alfred much better more accurate to history in my opinion.There was so much nonsense.
Last episode i've seen was the one with the balloon. I didn't like this all that much at this point, but I was still curious where it goes. The balloon was a tipping point for me. Wth was that?

Vikings became trash when they killed Ragnar it wasn’t even great the season where Ragnar died it was boring and drawn out and just dragged its crap I stopped watching after season 4 ep 17 the episode where Odin said ragnars dead I just said wtf so I google it got my answer seen his death and said fuck this I’m not watching 2 drawn out seasons of this crap
Season 4 was bad because they were building up to Ragnars death , They were building up the sons who besides Bjorn were very boring , They should of seen that Ragnar carried the show and went away from the sagas and kept Ragnar alive and pushed back his death until the final season
@@godusopp2752 ya I agree I know they wanted to keep it fact based but even the Vikings don’t know the actual stories it’s all legend nothing actually recorded in history to record what really happened so I think the directors should have ran with it with there own story because after all it’s all based off a legend fantasy tale even in viking times but they turned a beloved legendary character into a failed man over one episode and in season 3 or 4 where he was high on opioids what was the point of that he was ment to be a legendary warrior and should’ve died in battle that’s what the fans would have liked and accepted because it’s the Viking way vikings wouldn’t submit to a stupid little extra on the song king aelle and he just killed him like wtf the man had like 3 lines in the series and he’s the one that kills Ragnar it was so unsatisfying and stupid and I didn’t even finish season 4 because of it a great show turned into muck over the course of like 6 episodes
