It's a shame that they didn't believe Ralph. A simple Google search would've shown that he's right. I mean, as a cake decorator myself I can't imagine doing a cultural cake and adding a stereotype element to it without checking the facts. That's what it boils down to really
I just don't get it at the same time I think is super funny. Almost every single military force in Europe, and some from Asia during that time, had helmets with horns except the skandinavians.
Yeah I adore Ralph, I can totally relate, since I am the Ralph in my family lol! Small factoids make a difference. However the cake looks nice they did well with the dragon head.
there's a lot of people that is saying that this cake is not that amazing and a lot of others cakes he makes are better, i bet there is budget implay in every cake they make, they just don't say it. this cake must be what they could pay, witch it's still pretty cool
As a scandinavian I feel disappointed that Buddy just took the most stereotypical things he could find and smashed them together, instead of doing a bit of research and making something both interesting and more accurate, it wouldn't have been that difficult
Viking helmets with horns are a cartoon phenomenom, just like the word "bazooka".. :P Also, I hope they planned to celebrate with more than just cake, a true viking celebrations calls for lots of meat and mead! XD
it's lazy girl wrong in the early days of the operas and the fall of kalmarunionen swedes invented the horns to make there history more fearsome and awesome.
I feel close to home with this episode. I'm related to Erik the red and his son Leif Erikson. Glad to be Icelandic/Norwegian and I hope in the future I can explore my roots.
He always does this, he just makes rice crispies with fondue and wood. They just rowed a ship across the ocean and they only ate a few pieces between them all. Must've not tasted that great.. Lol a guy in the background even spit a piece out if you watch closely.
I don’t agree buddy his cakes are amazing watch some other vids of him making cakes then you will regret what you said. Not trying to spread hate it was just my opinion!
Fun fact: the word Viking is a stereotype for those from Norway. However, the term _vikin_ where we get the term Viking actually means _raider_. It’s used for those who attacked and pillaged villages.
people think he's so good cause he has tried and true cake making and decorating skills he's learned and earned from his dad and is a hard worker that many look up to and he makes watching his show worth it , unlike most youtubers who aren't that interesting to watch like his show
@Baku_Hoe 420 do you know who or how that myth started? I too used to believe that the helmet with horns was part of Viking attire until told otherwise but not sure where that idea came from.
My husband and I, we love living in Iceland it so clean, peaceful, quiet and the people are genuine, not fake like the people in the U.S.A... The northern lights are beautiful...
From what I learned in school, Viking helmets were made from iron or leather and they were basically caps with an occasional nose guard. But, they never had horns. They drank from horns.
I saw the thumbnail I immediately thought "no horns" and then when he said it I was like "oh thank god" and then he went on with it!!!! Like... "Offensive much??"
The dragon head would only be in the upright position while in harbour if they planned on invading and if not they would take it down to show they were coming in peace.
Buddy, please learn from your mistake about the helmet. In the future make research and trust your staff......you might be the Cake Boss but being.ignorant and arrogant make you lose viewers but more importantly customers who want correct and good looking cakes. I believe you always nail the flavors because that's your knowledge.
Buddy is stubborn. He should want the cake to be what the customers want not what he wants. RALPH was trying to tell him the right way about the horns but he didn't care
